ADDIS ABABA – On the sideline of the business- to-business (B2B) discussions and exhibition, Muawiya Al-Barir and GIAD Industrial Group told The Ethiopian Herald that they seek to expand business operations and partnership with Ethiopian counterparts in order to build competitive companies in the East African region.
Mutasim Abdullah Jadallah, Director of Promotion and Information Department of GIAD Industrial Group, said that the group is participating for the sixth time in the exhibition and it is seeking ways to open new markets and searching for partnerships with Ethiopian companies.
He added that the exhibition is affording a good opportunity to meet and display products and goods. “The Ethiopian market is a very promising market and deserves attention as there is a great demand. It could be a gateway to many other African markets.”
Mutasim pointed out that the GIAD Group focuses on quality and the right price, and that its products such as batteries and light bulbs have earned great popularity in the Ethiopian markets.
He said that the group has good relations with the Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce and that there is a plan for exchanging visits between Ethiopian and Sudanese businessmen to find out about joint business ventures and to develop trade between the two countries.
The GIAD Industrial Group was established in the year 1993 GC on the vision of being the largest industrial group in Africa that leads to agricultural transformation and development renaissance. And that it is one of the pioneers of industry in the region and one of the biggest pillars of the national economy of Sudan.
GIAd is working actively in the automotive, metallurgical, electronic, aviation industry, marine and mining industries. It as well is engaged in the spheres of agriculture, transportation, alternative and renewable energies, infrastructure, construction, space technology, research and development.
Kalid Satti Sheikh Mohamed, Deputy General Manager of Moawia ElBerier Group said that the group has started its participation in the exhibition since 2012 and that the exhibition will help the company in promoting its products further.
Satti added that his company has set up agro processing factory in Dukem, Oromia State surrounding the Capital Addis Ababa two years ago, and it has created about 25 job opportunities at present.
He pointed out that the factory is currently working by using the power generator and that when it gets full electricity services, it will create additional 100 job opportunities.
He said that the group is currently planning to produce mineral water and is awaiting obtaining the commercial license to start production.
He added that Moawia ElBerier Group companies, which has over 30 companies working in a wide-range of industrial production services, as well as real estate, mining, plastic products, agricultural activity and others, are considered one of the largest industrial corporation in Sudan. They also have a factory in Dubai and Chad and produce more than 300 products.
The group is active in production, food processing, distribution of soft drinks, sweets and other food, packaging, printing and real estate industries.
Moawia ElBerier Chemicals Group was established in the early twentieth century when the opportunity was provided to work in the battery and detergent cell sectors. The group has thus expanded greatly in soaps and detergents as it produces many products including soap and detergent powders with different kinds of perfumes as well.
The company has also been involved in a number of fields such as the plastics and food industries, and packaging as it owns a huge complex for the production of paper, cardboard and sealing, and it continues to expand in various industries. The group also maintains a good reputation in the food industries, sweets and food beverages sector.
The International Trade Fair that has gathered together 74 foreign companies and 127 local companies at the Addis Ababa Convention Center 3 was concluded this week. The two Sudanese Business Groups which are considered to be the largest in the Sudan.
