Amb. Diop has also stressed that cultural diplomacy has also a significant role in silencing guns and promoting peace and security in the continent.

He said cultural exchange among African countries should be given a prime attention. “Ethiopia and Senegal are at the forefront in promoting each other’s culture.

Africa as a continent has lots of soio -economic and political challenges. These problems are being exacerbated by leaders and politicians’ failure to resolve differences around the table. A terrorist act, civil war, immigration, abduction, coup attempts, poverty, hunger and instability and others are still the threats of the continent.

Silencing the gun in Africa” by 2020 was the promise leaders of Africa made seven years ago stating as Africa would be a continent free from all forms of conflict and war. Unfortunately, with some exceptions, nothing new has happened to the continent. Africa is still suffering from conflict and civil wars.
