ADDIS ABABA – Ethio-telecom announced yesterday major tariff cut and service improvement on its fixed broadband services yesterday.
Briefing the press, Ethio telecom CEO Frehiwot Tamiru indicated that up to 69 percent tariff reduction has been made for residential fixed broadband internet service while up to 65 percent tariff cut has been made for Enterprise fixed broadband internet customers. Enterprise broadband VPN internet customers have seen up to 72 percent tariff reduction.
Besides, the service subscription fee as well as the deposit requirement for new customers has been removed while the reconnection fee for existing customers has also been made free of charge, revealed the Telecom.
With the tariff reduction, the service provider expects existing fixed broadband internet service subscribers to be upgraded to a minimum of three times higher than the current internet speed. To this effect, the company has developed quite a lot of offers and solutions which will have a significant impact on the broadband service penetration and quality, according to the telecom.
She listed the service improvement on fixed broadband services include improving the existing broadband infrastructure capacity, deploying new infrastructure, introducing easy and convenient service delivery and others.
The fixed broadband service improvement and tariff reduction is derived from the telecom’s three years’ strategy which pursues product and technology excellence to meet and excel customer expectation and uplift Ethiopia’s status in broadband penetration, it was learned.
In line with the government’s commitment to ensure economic development by creating a favorable business environment with its ‘ ease of doing business’ initiative, ethio telecom developed a three-year BRIDGE strategy containing various service improvements and tariff reductions.
