ADDIS ABABA — Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed on Saturday vowed to sustain on-going reforms as the people across the country continue demonstrating support rallies in some parts of the country, as in Hawassa, Bishoftu, Legetafo, Gambela, for the achievements attained over the past two years.
The premier promised to sustain the reforms being undertaken since two years ago in socioeconomic and political issues; he also stressed that ensuring rule of law, enhancing productivity, reducing unemployment, and improving living standard of the people, as the top priorities of his government.
In a video message he posted on his face-book page, the Premier said that people in some parts of the country have been voluntarily holding support rallies in favour of the on-going transformations. In those support rallies, the people were conveying meaningful messages of their keen interest that should be extended peacefully throughout the country, he praised.
Abiy also advised the public to develop the culture of safeguarding transformations. “Strengthening the values of understanding, respect, consultation, coexistence is crucial to sustain the on-going reforms.”
“Our goal is to realize prosperity which requires strong commitment and support from the people. Now we need to change the history of this country through transformations into democracy and development at the grass-root level. The supports of the people could ignite strong enthusiasm and strengthen our commitment to realize tangible changes in the country.”
For those who have opposing thoughts, peaceful consultation is the sole option to achieve the desired common goals of the people, the premier suggested. Since we have learned a lot from the support rallies, we promised to be engaged in transformational endeavours in full swing so as to respond to the demands reflected during the support rallies, he added.
