ADDIS ABABA—Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed who came back home after visiting Europe and taking part in the World Economic Forum held in Davos, Switzerland, conferred with African Union Commission Chairperson Moussa Faki Mahamet yesterday on upcoming AU Summit and Democratic Republic of Congo.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu, who attended the talks told journalists that the Premier and the Chairperson discussed the upcoming AU Summit where around 4000 participants are expected to take part. The Summit will be held in early February. The two sides also conferred on ways of making the summit a success and echo Ethiopian values and traditions to build the positive image of the country and the continent.
Especially, there, the opening session of the Summit would see more Ethiopian and African values, according to Dr. Workneh. Faki appreciated Ethiopia’s hospitality in previous AU Summits and expressed his conviction to witness same gesture from the Ethiopian people on the upcoming session. The two also discussed on Democratic Republic of Congo’s election results and the progress of decisions passed by the AU and the regional bloc.
