ADDIS ABABA – After the restoration of telecom services between Ethiopia and Eritrea, around 4.4 million USD have been exchanged, Ethio telecom told The Ethiopian Herald.
According to Ethio telecom CEO Frehiwot Tamiru, aside from contributing to the economy of the two sisterly countries, the restoration of the services has been playing a huge role in bringing the two people together.
“As far as this, more than 4 million traffics have been sent from here to Eritrea. There are also traffics coming from Eritrea to Ethiopia. We are expanding our businesses for mutual benefit.”
Also, the CEO said: “From July 01-December 31, 2019, we have paid 3.89 billion Birr in tax and 2 billion Birr dividend. More to the point, 4.4 billion Birr, an equivalent of 148.15 Million USD was paid for the loan of projects implemented under Vendor-financing modality.”
