Jan Meda International Cross-Country race takes place on Sunday

ADDIS ABABA – The 37th edition of Jan Meda International Cross-Country race took place on Sunday 26, 2020.

Both elite and new Ethiopian athletes took part in the competition in order to be eligible for the 2020 Africa Cross Country Championship that will be held in Lome, Togo on April.

In both sexes, more than 850 athletes have participated in various categories. States, city administrations, clubs sporting academies and various athletics clubs took part in the race in a 6km, 8km, 10km and a mixed relay race in both sexes.

400,000 Ethiopian Birr has provided as prize money for the winners. Six athletes selected in each category depending on the result to head Togo.

The Jan Meda International Cross Country is an annual cross-country competition held at the Jan Meda Race Course in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Typically held in January or February, the event serves as the national championships for Ethiopia, and doubles as the national trial for the IAAF World Cross Country Championships Africa.
