ADDIS ABABAB-(FBC) – Minister of Water, Irrigation and Energy, Dr. Eng.Seleshi Bekele, met with contractors of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) project.
During the meeting, the contractors presented integrated work schedule reports, where later after the meeting, the Minister provided directions to the contractors.
Last Sunday, Dr. Seleshi briefed Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed on the filling and operation of the dam. The briefing included key points on the hydrology of the river, filling timelines, procedures for the “drought threshold” and mitigation of drought, and the coordination mechanisms to manage data and information exchange.
Following their meeting, the Prime Minister gave direction and guidance on the way forward.
