ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopian Airlines CEO, Dr. Tewolde G/Mariam urged members of the House of Peoples’ Representatives to call upon all stakeholders to contribute to the production and networking of airline-produced inputs.
Due to the inadequacy of the quality and supply of food and other locally produced items in the country, outlaying foreign currency, the airlines is coerced to import such items to make them available and improve customers’ services as well as satisfaction.
He said that, “If we had strong links with regional and city administrations, we could provide better services to travelers. As we have a strong link with the federal security office to ensure the safety of our airline, revenue authority to maximize incomes and FRDE immigration to update travelers’ priorities.”
He further said that “Readiness towards this end and utilization of this potential is a good way of working together for the common wealth of all sectors as well as nation-branding work of the country,” So far, the company has been using imported food and other products to make the facility better and sound in its preferred service in Africa and around the globe that our airline service is delivered. This helps to ensure access and national development of the country.
He added that by collaborating with local producers of inputs, it has consistently provided the airline and created market linkages with manufacturers. As such, it has seen the importance of job creation and saving foreign currency.
Ethiopia is well known for ample fertile land, spectrum of crop types and variety of vegetables. Fruits are produced in an unsatisfactory manner due to lack of modern mechanization and collaborative work of sector offices. If we look at this product with the efforts of our concerned stakeholders could provide it in a nationalized way.
The current product produced in our country could not meet the needs of a nation. But it also enables manufacturers to change their lives and benefit their product if we support and work for the common growth and development.
Adding to this he said, regional and city administration cooperatives’ are not delivering as much as tour agents want. They are expected to do better.
Council Deputy Speaker, Shitaye Fantaye seconds the CEO’s call. She said that “She would work tirelessly for this cooperation through the institute that she leads, and that it would be a responsibility to the country.”
She said that the airline is working hard to make development possible. So, the parliament and other sector offices should also repeat it in line with taking the lion’s share to ensure the growth and development of the country.
The Deputy Speaker said that “Our airline is proud of the peoples’ of Ethiopian and Africans and furthermore for the black people beyond us.”
She emphasized cooperative work with the airline should be strengthened and added that “We should contribute to its success by producing and delivering resources in our areas of work as much to see a bright future in Ethiopia.”
