ADDIS ABABA– The U.S. Assistant Secretary for African Affairs Tibor Nagy will arrive in Addis soon to promote and strengthen University Partnerships Initiative and cooperation among higher learning institutions of Ethiopia and the USA.
In an exclusive interview with The Ethiopian Herald the U.S. Embassy in Ethiopia Spokesperson John T Ice said the Assistant Secretary’s to visit Africa will emphasize the importance of promoting good governance and strong democratic institutions, advancing regional peace and security, combatting corruption, and forging stronger trade and investment ties.
He will promote the University Partnerships Initiative, a new program designed to strengthen ties and encourage collaboration between U.S and African universities, he added.
“The Assistant Secretary’s trip will highlight America’s commitment to engage Africa’s youth,” he noted.
According to him, during his trip to Africa US Assistant Secretary Tibor Nagy will meet with senior government officials, international partners, civil society representatives, faculty and students of local universities, and alumni of Department of State public diplomacy exchange programs.
