ADDIS ABABA – Ethio-Telecom announced that it has collected 22.04 billion Birr revenue over the last six months of Ethiopian Year.
Briefing Journalists yesterday, Company CEO Frehiwot Tamiru said that over the last six months, her company has generated 22.04 billion Birr revenue, hits beyond the target set recording the 32 percent high compared to last budget year of same period.
Noting that 73 million USD foreign currency earnings has been generated from international business, she said that mobile voice, Data and internet, international business, value added service and others are major sources of revenue.
According to the CEO, now the total number of customers reached 45.6 million which shows 10.9 of percent increment of the set target.
Starting from July to December 2019, the company has paid 4.4 billion (148.15 USD), 3.86 billion Birr tax and two billion dividend. Moreover, it has created job and business opportunities for over 240,000 citizens, she noted.
As part of its corporate social responsibility, it has provided 151.5 million Birr in a bid to address society’s most pressing challenges targeting fundamental drivers of long term development such as education, health, environment protection, greening and beautification, she underscored.
Fiber and Copper Cable vandalism, commercial power interruption, telecom fraud, security problems and delay in land acquisition for new site development were challenges that the company faced so far.
