Bure Integrated Agro-Industrial Park to be operational in two months

ADDIS ABABA – Bure Integrated Agro-Industrial Park (IAIP) will be operational in the next two months, according to Dagnachew Asres, Managing Director of the Park.

The Director said that about 79 percent of the first phase construction of the agro-industrial park is completed. Mentioning that road and water infrastructure are already being carried out; the Director stated that providing power will be the only issue remaining once the park is gone operational.

Teka Gebreyesus, State Minister of Trade and Industry, for his part mentioned that an agreement is signed with the Chinese government to build substation for the industry park, adding that alternative power providing system will be provided once the first phase is over.

The construction of the park is estimated to be worth 4.3 billion birr, and it will consist around seven rural transition centers, an intermediate infrastructure that are placed closer to farming communities to provide services to the Parks.

The agro-industrial park, which is expected to be completed in three-phase construction, lies on 1000 hectares of land. Once the Park is fully operational, it is expected to create jobs for about 3000 to 4000 citizens, it was learned.
