ADDIS ABABA – The 8th trilateral technical meeting among water affairs Minsters of Ethiopia, Sudan and Egypt that was held on 21 and 22 December 2019 in Sudan’s capital Khartoum was concluded.
According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the water ministers met to discuss the filling and operation of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD). The latest meeting was held per the direction of the heads of states of the three countries and the two-day meeting, attended by the US Government and the World Bank as observers.
The next round of the meeting will be held 3-4 January, 2020 in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa. Meanwhile, Ethiopia’s Minister of Water, Irrigation and Energy Dr. Seleshi Bekele, held discussions with President of the Sovereign Council of Sudan Lt. Gen Abdul Fattah Al Burhan in Khartoum Sunday.
The two sides discussed on issues of mutual interest, according to the Embassy of Ethiopia in Sudan. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the tripartite ministerial meeting of Ethiopia, Sudan and Egypt on the filling and operation of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).
