ADDIS ABABA- Ethiopian Standard Agency’s (ESA) disclosed new training academy will elevate the country’s ability to insepct the standard and quality of products. Agency Communication Director, Yissma Jiru said that the new International Standard Training Academy will provide all types of training in setting quality standard for goods and services.
Beside, the academy would serve to produce highly trained experts for the sector. The training academy will land on 4000 square meter where half of the land is reserved for green area and car parking. The Director told this reporter that the new training academy will reduce the amount of money the country spends for further educating experts. “Upon its completion, the training academy will be competitive with its global counterparts”.
Given that the economy is growing, and the plan is to transform it into an industry dominated one, the country will need manpower that can easily run the machine industry and drive industry standard, Yissma opined. And this will help in that regard.
The new training academy will provide food and boarding service to student, he said, and the plan is to make the training center the standard bearer for neighboring and regional countries. Ketema Tolossa, Head of the under construction training academy and Cleaner Production Director with the Agency, for his part noted that the academy will accommodate the training demand of the country, and add twelve system training and product training modules. To this end, the scope of training is expected to broaden compared to early years, he added.
According to him, the training academy will have meeting hall, modern board, projector and camera. Moreover, the training academy also is expected to serves as training center for Ethiopian conformity assessment enterprise, and accreditation, Ketema noted. The training academy which is under construction with 300 million birr is expected to be inaugurated on November, 2019.
