
• Over 30,000 participants to attend event
ADDIS ABABA – Oromia State disclosed that it has finalized preparations to celebrate the 14th Nations, Nationalities and Peoples Day on Monday here in Addis Ababa.
Some 30 to 35 thousand participants from across the nation are expected to attend the celebration.
Ethiopia has been celebrating the Nations, Nationalities and Peoples Day since 2006 to commemorate the day when the FDRE Constitution was ratified.
The anniversary is observed on rotational basis from region to region. This year, Oromia State is set to host the 14th Nations, Nationalities and peoples day here in Addis Ababa City.
Lommi Bedo, Speaker of Cheffe Oromia (The State’s Council) told the media that Oromia has finalized its preparation to welcome delegates from all corners of the country to celebrate the day colorfully. She added that part of the celebration, exhibitions and symposiums are organized in various towns of the state.
According to the Speaker 30 to 35 thousand participants are expected to attend the celebration in Addis Ababa
from all nations, nationalities and peoples of the country. She added that Oromia is working with Addis Ababa City administration and the concerned federal institutions to celebrate the day colorfully and peacefully to achieve its target.
Lommi noted that the festival has multifaceted benefits in developing unityin diversity which enhances the unity of Ethiopians by enhancing the relationship among each nation.
The day helps to boost the cultural values of Ethiopians and to strengthen brotherhood among the people.
Symposiums, exhibitions and cultural shows are taking place in all states as part of the celebration, it was learnt.
