. Prosperity party officially formed
ADDIS ABABA – Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed said no earthly power stops the newly established Prosperity Party (PP) from transforming and prospering Ethiopia.
The premier’s remark came after the chairpersons of eight political parties signed a document that officially established PP here Sunday. On the occasion, Abiy said PP has a ten year plan that leads Ethiopia to prosperity aside from accommodating unity in diversity.
“PP stands for development and democracy; therefore, it will toil to bring prosperity to Ethiopia and ready to welcome any political parties that wish to work with PP.”
He emphasized that PP would strengthen multinational federalism and the ongoing process to build democracy in the country. As to the premier, the ruling coalition had been admitted to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and the formation of PP would finally help the coalition to be out of the ICU.
“As PP believes in truth and knowledge, we have clearly stated our policy and made ready our program as well as regulation for discussion among the members,” Abiy noted.
PP‘s political ideology is replaceable unlike the previous revolutionary democracy, he said adding any person or political entity that has better ideas and views would have the chance to improve the ideology.
Political organizations that formed the Prosperity Party are Oromo Democratic Party (ODP), Amhara Democratic Party (ADP), Southern Ethiopian Peoples’ Democratic Movement (SEPDM), Afar National Democratic Party (ANDP) Benishangul-Gumuz Democratic Party (BDP), Somali Democratic Party (SDP), Gambela Peoples Democratic Movement (GPDM ) and Harari National League (HNL).
