Natural calamities pose threat on eco-system

Recently, natural and man-made disasters have been taking place across the country. Currently, Ethiopia has been subject to pesticide ravages, wildfires, landslides, fires, desertification, volcanic eruptions and earthquakes, floods and erosion. Departmental units, drawn from key sectors, are duty bound to rescue people.

“God bless and save Ethiopia,” saying could signify lesser roles are being witnessed on the side of concerned bodies and citizens. Both must be active in the prevention of natural and man-made disasters.

It is the usual phenomena that the rural communities have been usually risking their lives on natural disasters.

Extra prevention seems lacking in combating natural and man-made catastrophes. “Prevention is much better than cure” saying, does not seem to get due concern by risk management teams. It is a public secret that citizens in far flung corners of the country are facing risks and losing their properties to natural and man-made calamities.
