Former prime Of Niger receives Order of the Rising Sun

The Government of Japan announced the foreign recipients of the 2019 Fall Imperial Decorations, so disclosed by Japan embassy in Ethiopia.

On the sending statement of Japan embassy in Ethiopia to The Ethiopian herald, Dr. Ibrahim Mayaki, the former Prime Minister of Niger and the Chief Executive Officer of AUDA-NEPAD, is among this year’s foreign recipients.

He will receive the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the promotion of friendly relations and mutual understanding between Japan and Niger as well as Japan and the African Union.

Having participated in several Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) meetings as the Prime Minister of Niger and the Chief Executive Officer of AUDA-NEPAD, Dr. Mayaki has made historical contributions in expanding the partnership with Japan for the development of Africa through his deep understanding of Japan and Japan’s cooperation in Africa, which includes a contribution to expanding international support to NEPAD through the discussions in TICAD.

As the Chief Executive Officer of AUDA-NEPAD, he has played a crucial role in developing economic relations between Japan and Africa, through the promotion of linkages with the Japanese private sector, in order to increase investment and trade in the African continent. Moreover, he started a continent wide initiative to promote Kaizen, which is an approach originating in Japan for continuous improvement, in order to enhance industries and productions in Africa.
