National football team begins preparation at Mekele

ADDIS ABABA – The Ethiopian national football team, officially called Wallias, have begun their preparation yesterday, Monday, at Mekele, for their first leg against Madagascar for the 33rd African Nations Cup qualifiers.

The national side are in Group K along with Ivory Coast, Niger and Madagascar.

The Ethiopian Group was seen as one of the toughest in the qualifiers. Madagascar had shown brilliance in the 32nd African Nations Cup reaching in the quarter-finals for the first time in their history. They were also named as surprising team of the tournament.

The Ethiopian national football team will face Ivory Coast in their second match.
