Schools restart teaching learning process

ADDIS ABABA- 955 schools that were closed for ten days following the violence in Western Wollega zone of Oromia National Regional State restarted teaching and learning process.

Briefing journalists yesterday, Tola Barrisso (PhD), Head of Oromia National Regional State Education Bureau, said that elders, Aba Gadas and religious fathers played pivotal role in reopening the schools. He stressed that the community participation undertaken in Western Wollega zone to restore peace and stability should be taken as role model to other areas.

Stating that there are still closed schools in Horo Gudru, Wollega, Borena, Eastern Wollega and Guji, he said that the office is doing its level best to facilitate similar negotiations and open the schools in the near future.

He further stated that the violence, which is traded by anti-reformists, aims at reversing the ongoing national reform and call the public to say no to such actions. The Head called on the public, activists, politician and other stakeholders to play their role in promoting lasting peace and security in the region.
