Cultivating progressive culture for future generations

Ethiopia’s holistic developmental progress is bringing up new cultures that are positively impacting its citizens. A progressive culture, which prioritizes education, inclusiveness, innovation and entrepreneurship, community, values of integrity and accountability, is thriving through the leadership of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD).

The Premier addressed the questions of parliament members on the first half ordinary session of the 2025 budget year of the House of Peoples Representatives yesterday.

Several questions concerning the Nation’s socioeconomic, political progress and international diplomacy were raised by the parliament members.

Prime Minster Abiy said his administration has brought the country through multifaceted  growth and developments by cultivating new values of a progressive culture.

“Dwelling on backward traditions costed our Country a lot over the past ten decades. Political instability caused by old trends of rival groups to throw down a newly formed administration has always been dragging the Nation backwards,” he said.

The Prime Minister said that even though his administration has faced such fate, maximum efforts are being exerted to maintain peace and stability by bringing rivals to round tables.

Warrior mentalities here and there had driven the Country towards extended internal and external wars and conflicts. “Over the past seven years my administration didn’t go to war with any country. We have given repeated chances for internal forces to withdraw their weapons and join our efforts to build a new working culture that leaves an inspiring legacy for future generations,” noted the Premier.

He also stressed the necessity of building a culture that gives extra chance for a courageous government, whose priorities are development.

According to him, the current Ethiopian government, which is the Prosperity Party, has registered several achievements over the past seven years. A new revolutionary culture of executing projects on their exact schedules significantly changed the faces of several cities nationwide. “Ongoing corridor developments in various cities are changing the lifestyles of their residents. We are not focused on temporary developments. We are working for the future generations’ better well-beings.”

The Premier also mentioned the achievement is not only visible for local eyes. There are countries that intend to scale up Ethiopia’s multifaceted city development practices. It was a recent memory that the South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa, said he has been traveling on the streets of Addis Ababa and the changes were remarkable. He also stressed the need to make Johannesburg like Addis Ababa. The testimony reflects that the new progressive culture the Premier introduced is reliable to build a better future for generations to come.
