Common vision speeds up the path to prosperity: Forum

ADDIS ABABA—Cultivating Common vision among the peoples of Ethiopia would speed up the path to prosperity. This was indicated at a discussion forum organized on Wednesday by the Press Secretariat of the Office of Prime Minister on prosperity day being celebrated today as per of the Pagumen Bemedemer scheme.

Physiatrist, Dr. Mihret Debebe said in the discussion that nurturing common vision transforms the country into prosperity. A visionary community would have their road to prosperity on right track and ensure strong unity. Indicating that prosperity is beyond economic development, Investment Commission Commissioner Abebe Abebayehu for his part stressed the need to create wealth and march into the avenue of prosperity.

“There should be consensual national narrative that would assist speed up the country’s road to prosperity,” Abebe said adding motivation, fairness and common national goals pave the road to prosperity. Prosperity embraces peace, health, stability and wealth, said Frealem Shebabaw, Ethiopian School Initiative Director and author of Lasibibet (Let me think) Book.

Prosperity begins all the way from schools. And it requires extensive work on students. Unless we invest on schools, the road to prosperity could be bumpy, said Ferealem. It was disclosed that ensuring national unity and citizen’s dignity and creating institutions that lead the efforts would help achieve prosperity.

The values of prosperity include living for others improving people’s life and ensuring peace and happiness as well as stability. The participants also called for creating equal opportunities and addressing current problem flaring in the country. Religious fathers, teachers, health professionals, psychologists, social workers and entrepreneurs, representatives of international organizations and others have taken part in the discussion forum.
