ADDIS ABABA-The Minister of State for Government Communication Services announced that 402 million saplings have been planted so far as part of a nationwide program aiming to plant 600 million saplings in a single day.
Minister of State Selamawit Kassa provided an update from the situation monitoring and information organization center on the ongoing sapling planting initiative, which commenced at 6:00 AM today across the country.
In her statement, she highlighted the massive participation of millions of citizens in this program, which has been active since the early hours of the morning.
According to the state minister, 402 million saplings have been planted so far, with 19 million people from various segments of society contributing to the effort. She added that these saplings have been planted on 161,000 hectares of land.
