Gov’t takes bold steps to ensure higher education quality

  • KUE graduates 1,680 students

ADDIS ABABA – The reformist administration is taking bold steps to achieve education quality in higher learning institutions, which will expedite efforts to build a competent labor force, according to the Government Communication Service (GCS).

The GCS Minister and Kotebe University of Education (KUE) Board Chairperson, Legesse Tulu (PhD), made this remark yesterday while attending KUE’s graduation ceremony, where 1,680 students graduated in various programs at the newly-inaugurated Adwa Memorial Museum.

Legesse emphasized that the government is committed to ensuring inclusive and quality education for all. Special attention has been given to expanding technology that fosters creativity and productivity among citizens. He also called on the graduates to serve their country and people with the knowledge and skills they gained from KUE.

KUE President Berhanemeskel Tena (PhD) reported that the university graduated 1,680 students, including 868 male and 812 female students, from regular, extension, and continuous programs. He noted that KUE has provided over 100,000 proficient academic experts over the past six decades and is the only institution dedicated exclusively to education.

Berhanemeskel highlighted that KUE is addressing educational gaps through various activities and has prepared a 10-year strategic plan to tackle academic challenges. This year alone, the institute organized two international and national conferences involving scholars and stakeholders to identify and address the nation’s educational gaps.

The university is working hard to provide capable and proficient teachers and students by improving services related to quality libraries, classrooms, IT infrastructure, and other one-stop center services. Additionally, KUE is striving to utilize digital technology, particularly artificial intelligence (AI).

The university’s commitment to quality education and technological advancement is aimed at producing a well-equipped and skilled workforce, crucial for the country’s development, the president emphasized.
