Ethio-Pakistan business forum spurs economic collaboration

 Pakistan delegation to visit Ethiopia late May

ADDIS ABABA– Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad announced that the second Ethio-Pakistan Business Forum will be held in Ethiopia late May.

The upcoming forum is expected to make the Ethio-Pakistan economic integration better as the previous ones mobilizes Pakistan investors to perceive opportunities.

The Embassy co-hosted a business dialogues with Pakistan’s Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), aimed at fostering economic ties between the two countries and to discuss the 2ndvisit of Business and Trade Delegation of Pakistan that will be here in Ethiopia to visit investment opportunities and infrastructures, The Ethiopian Herald learnt.

Ethiopian Ambassador to Pakistan, Ambassador Jemal Beker and the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI)President Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari, discussed preliminary conditions for the upcoming Pakistan’s delegation visit to Ethiopia scheduled for May 26th to May 31st  this year.

The discussion was held at the ICCI headquarter in Islamabad, drew a significant gathering of business leaders spanning various sectors. Its primary objective was to mobilize Islamabad’s business community to invest in Ethiopia, according to the Embassy’s report.

Ambassador Jemal underscored Ethiopia’s ambitious economic reforms across key sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, mining, tourism, and ICT. He outlined a comprehensive agenda of business forums and site visits. The visit will cover industrial and ICT parks, high-level meetings, exploration of tourist attractions, and cultural exchanges in Addis Ababa, it was stated.

Highlighting the significant opportunity for bilateral economic collaboration, Ambassador Jemal also highlighted that Ethiopian government will continue with series of exclusive forums and discussions.

The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry -ICCI President Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari also urged Pakistan business community members to seize the opportunity, citing Ethiopia’s warm hospitality and promising business prospects. He also emphasized the strategic importance of Ethiopian Airlines’ operations in Karachi-Pakistan as a pivotal link connecting Pakistan to Africa.
