Ethiopia, Comoros agree to solidify  ties 

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia and the Union of Comoros have expressed mutual commitment to strengthening bonds, exploring cooperation avenues and addressing continental and regional challenges.

This came after Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) warmly welcomed President of the Union of Comoros Azali Assoumani and his delegation yesterday in an official welcoming ceremony.

The bilateral meeting was attended by respective delegations. Both parties underscored a shared vision for progress, cooperation, and mutual respect.

“I am pleased to welcome President Azali Assoumani of the Union of Comoros on his official visit to Ethiopia. In a series of productive discussions, we delved into a wide range of topics covering bilateral, regional, and multilateral issues. Our conversations underscored a mutual commitment to strengthening the bonds between our nations, exploring avenues for cooperation, and addressing continent wide and regional challenges together.”

Prime Minister Abiy lauded President Azali Assoumani for his exemplary leadership during his tenure as the Chair of the African Union, highlighting the strides made under his guidance towards the African Union’s entry into the G20.

Both leaders, with a forward-looking approach, agreed to collaborate closely on pressing regional and continental matters, acknowledging the importance of joint efforts in navigating the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, it stated.

Earlier, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed met with Visa CEO, Ryan McInerney for a discussion on the work organization is undertaking in Ethiopia.
