How do you manage to balance your passion for music with your career in law? Because art is flexible whereas law is rigid.
Tewdros: Balancing music and law can be challenging but incredibly rewarding. It requires careful time management, prioritization, and a strong commitment to both disciplines. When I say time management, I believe that effective time management is crucial when pursuing multiple passions. I establish a structured schedule that allows me to allocate dedicated time for both music and my law career. By setting aside a specific arrangement of time for each profession, I can ensure that I gave ample attention to both without neglecting either.
The other issue is prioritization. Prioritizing tasks and goals is essential to managing two demanding areas of my life. I identify my short-term and long-term objectives in both music and law, and I align my efforts accordingly. This helps me stay focused and make informed decisions about where to invest my time and energy at any given moment. Regarding to flexibility and rigidity, I recognize the importance of having a strong support system. Surrounding myself with understanding and supportive individuals, such as family, friends, and colleagues, allows me to navigate the complexities of balancing music and law. Their encouragement and assistance provide invaluable emotional support and help me stay motivated.
How do you become a musician or what made you want to become a musician?
Tewdros: I have a deep passion for music since my childhood. Unlike other musicians, I did not develop musical talent in school clubs or nightclubs, as many people associate music with the vibrant beats of a nightclub or a concert venue. My passion for music began at an early age, as I identified that my voice is natural and that I always listen to music in different languages, try it, and practice it. I had a strong capacity to listen. The sheer enjoyment of listening to music or playing an instrument can inspire someone to pursue a career in music. Whether it is the magic of a beautiful melody or the energy of a live concert, music has a way of captivating hearts.
Musicians often see music as a powerful form of self-expression. It allows them to convey emotions, tell stories, and communicate without words. The desire to share their unique voice with the world drives them forward.
Starting music at an early age offers numerous advantages. It enhances brain development and improves skills for heightened musical sensitivity and emotional development; the benefits of early exposure to music are far-reaching. The discipline, focus and social skills I acquired through music training at a young age laid a solid foundation for my lifelong musical growth.
Many people say Tewdros Mosisa is known for having a low-key personality compared to other artists. What do you say about that?
Tewdros: Yes, I prefer to keep a low profile. I am not the one who seeks attention; I value my privacy and tend to avoid the spotlight. I always let my actions speak for themselves rather than seeking attention. This may be because of my nature and my upbringing, which helped me develop this personality. Once upon a time, I remember when I was a university student, one of our instructors told me; don’t waste your time and energy being somebody great because you will suffer a heavy lapse when you go up the ladder.
I belong to a person who enjoys a simple and quite life without seeking constant attention. I tend to fly under the radar and avoid drawing unnecessary attention to myself. I have a laid-back personality and don’t seek validation and recognition from others.
How do you express your connection with music?
Tewdros: My music is focused on story-telling based on facts and true history. Music has always been a powerful medium for expressing emotions, evoking memories, and capturing the essence of a particular era. Throughout history, musicians have used their craft to tell stories, shedding light on the triumphs, struggles, and untold narratives of societies and individuals.
