Taking comprehensive action to supply aid, rebuild infrastructure

Recognizing the serious impacts of the two-year conflict, the federal government has been taking comprehensive measures to promptly develop effective solutions and re-establish stability in conflict-affected areas.

These efforts encompass streamlined access to humanitarian aid and rehabilitation of the damaged social infrastructure. The flow of aid and the overall situation in the northern part of the country have already seen significant change.

Even though the federal government has made strenuous efforts to establish lasting peace in the northern part of the country, some groups had been persistently working towards obstructing the realization of a peaceful Ethiopia.

Despite facing multiple obstacles, the incumbent has successfully brought about peace in an impressively brief period. Undoubtedly, the most significant achievement has been the signing of the peace agreement between the government and TPLF intending to establish enduring peace throughout the country.

Subsequent to the signing of the cessation of hostilities agreement, the country acted swiftly to provide humanitarian assistance and revamp the essential social infrastructure, thereby speeding up the peace process. Since the signing of the agreement, the government has taken on several impressive initiatives that have garnered global attention. These initiatives include facilitating the provision of crucial humanitarian aid, as well as the much-needed restoration of vital social infrastructure that had been damaged as a result of previous conflicts.

The positive impact of these initiatives has reverberated beyond the nation’s borders earning the government international acclaim and recognition. The global community looks upon these efforts with admiration applauding the government for its swift action and commitment to peace-building. By prioritizing the welfare of its citizens, the incumbent has demonstrated its leadership and unwavering dedication to promoting positive change.

The government has successfully provided crucial relief to the victims of conflict, allowing them to begin rehabilitating their livelihood. These efforts have also played a vital role in alleviating tensions and promoting stability in these communities.

In spite of the incumbent’s firm commitment to advancing peace and stability in the country, some groups have continued to spread misinformation and slander, thereby hindering progress toward sustainable peace. It is vital to understand that the government’s relentless efforts to promote prosperity and stability should be lauded and supported, not discredited or obstructed. The actions of these groups are not just a reflection of their ill intentions but also demonstrate the lengths to which they will go to create instability and hinder progress.

Since the signing of the peace agreement, the government has been committed to working tirelessly toward providing essential humanitarian aid to those impacted by the two-year conflict. The government recognizes the urgent need to provide assistance to those affected by the conflict and has taken numerous steps to provide critical support to communities afflicted by the conflict.

Through targeted programs, the government has been successful in delivering food, water, shelter, medical supplies, and other essential items to those impacted by the conflict. These initiatives have been instrumental in providing relief to those severely affected and in rebuilding social infrastructure, which has been damaged by years of violence and conflict.

The government’s efforts towards providing humanitarian aid have been further enhanced through the collaboration of various donor organizations. In some nations, which have experienced prolonged periods of instability and violence, the task of rebuilding basic infrastructure and services is particularly challenging and often requires significant investment from the international community.

Through various forms of assistance, such as financial and humanitarian aid, or technical support, the international community can play a critical role in enabling peace-building and promoting sustainable development in affected nations. This assistance can be instrumental in restoring essential services such as healthcare, education, and social infrastructure, which are often damaged or destroyed in times of conflict.

Roads, telecommunications, hospitals, and other essential services are vital components of a functioning society. They provide the necessary infrastructure and support for socioeconomic growth and development and allow citizens to pursue opportunities to improve their lives.

The establishment of stable social infrastructure and services is not only central to healing the wounds of conflict but is also crucial to creating conditions for long-term social and economic development. In light of the significant investment required for creating and maintaining social infrastructure and services, the support of the international community is vital for rebuilding affected communities.

By lending a hand, the international community can enable the country to build robust social infrastructure and services that facilitate the recovery process of affected communities, repair damaged infrastructure, and restore citizens’ quality of life. Access to education, healthcare, communication, and transportation is necessary for facilitating socio-economic growth and promoting stability and long-term sustainability.

The international community’s support is integral to Ethiopia’s efforts to recover from its past and create a stable and peaceful future for its citizens. Through the provision of technical support, financial aid, and resources for rebuilding, the international community can aid the Ethiopian government in its goal of establishing crucial social infrastructure and services.

Recent developments in the northern part of Ethiopia by the government have been recognized and commended by the international community. The initial negative attitude of the international community towards Ethiopia was influenced by unwarranted stories propagated by a discredited section of the media. Nevertheless, the current unfolding events in the region, with the self-evident reality on the ground, have resulted in the international community acknowledging and commending the Ethiopian government’s efforts.

Currently, communities affected by the war in Ethiopia are experiencing much-needed relief and expressing gratitude towards the federal government and donor organizations for their combined efforts. After enduring countless challenges and hardships, those impacted by the conflict are finally finding ways to adjust to a peaceful way of life.

Given the complexity and magnitude of this issue, the government alone cannot provide an effective solution. Therefore, all relevant parties must join forces and collaborate in finding a comprehensive solution that eradicates this problem once and for all. To succeed, everyone must work together with commitment and dedication towards eliminating this issue from our society.

Given the country’s vital role in maintaining peace and stability not only in the country but also in the Horn of Africa, it is fundamental that everyone supports the federal government’s relentless efforts to swiftly address any issues that arise. By standing strong together, we can further the cause towards achieving a peaceful and harmonious society for all.

Given the government’s commitment to driving the nation towards greater heights by leveraging all available resources, it is crucial for all stakeholders to collaborate in addressing the issues of humanitarian assistance and the restoration of social infrastructure. Through collaboration, we can ensure that the basic needs of affected communities such as food, water, shelter, and medical care are met, and that essential facilities such as schools and hospitals are rebuilt and improved for the benefit of all.

To rejuvenate the northern part of the country and foster a return to normalcy, it is indispensable for the international community to work collaboratively and more effectively than ever before. Collectively, we can overcome the challenges and facilitate the rebuilding of affected communities by supporting the restoration of infrastructure and basic social services.

Report confirms that the incumbent along with development partners has been providing humanitarian aid protection through inclusive approach to the communities affected by northern Ethiopia conflict. According to the by weekly report of the Ethiopian Disaster Risk Management Commission (EDRMC) and UNOCHA, they are keeping on supplying humanitarian aid to the communities in various parts of Northern Ethiopia using logistics, food, health clusters.

High malnutrition rates are rising to help conflict-affected areas in Afar, Amhara and Tigray states. In Afar, it was targeted to reach some one million since March 2023, and reach 663,601 beneficiaries in Afar in food response and it managed to achieve 158,353 (24%), while 9,257 metric tons of food was required, it was possible to dispatch 2,209 metric tons.

In Amhara, it was targeted to reach around five million since November, and reach 2.55 million beneficiaries in the state and it was managed to reach 2.5 million (99%), whereas out of 43,233 metric tons of food was planned to reach out to the unreached, it was possible to distribute 42,772 metric tons.

In Tigray, it was targeted to reach 5.3 million beneficiaries in the state in food response during round 3 and 4.7 million (88 %) could be reached. Moreover, 91,373 metric tons of food was required, and 80,395 metric tons were distributed as of 15 March.

Regarding the humanitarian cargo delivery per category between mid-November 2022 and16 March 2023 in Tigray, out of the total 5,822 trucks which required 5,779 attained the latter. Likewise, the total number of trucks with food and non-food supplies that arrived in Tigray was 5,561whereas 1.5 million liters of fuel reached the area. The report also indicated that some 197,515 and 24,708 metric tons of food and non-food supplies arrived in Tigray respectively.

Logistics and Transport Ministry stated that a discussion has been held on ways to restore road transport service to the Tigray region, according to information obtained from Ethiopian News Agency. Logistics and Transport State Ministers, Bero Hassen, and Dengie Boru visited the overall status of the transport infrastructures and transport institutions in the region. The state ministers have also held fruitful discussion with pertinent officials of the Tigray Interim Administration with a view to restart road transport service to the region.

An agreement has been reached to enter into the implementation of resuming the road transport service by drafting short, medium and long-term plans. According to Logistics and Transport Ministry, the discussions were fruitful and there is a need for a broad-based collaboration and support of all stakeholders to rebuild the region.

Various works will be undertaken on the logistics and transport sector in the region in collaboration with the Tigray Interim Administration and the regional Transport Bureau, it added. Considering the significant magnitude of devastation caused by war, it is imperative for donor nations to prioritize their efforts toward providing humanitarian assistance and restoring essential social infrastructure.
