China urges IC to intensify supports to Ethiopia’s north

ADDIS ABABA – China has called on the international community to strengthen supports to the war-affected Ethiopia’s north reconstruction and rehabilitation. In a press briefing yesterday, Xue Bing, Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa Affairs of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China said concrete actions are needed to support the relevant regions reconstruction and economic and social development to help Ethiopia achieve lasting peace, development and prosperity.

He said China has provided multiple batches of food, vaccines and other humanitarian supplies to Ethiopia to help ease the livelihood difficulties of people in conflict-affected areas vowing to continue to do so and actively participating in the reconstruction of conflict-affected areas. “The peace progress in Ethiopia demonstrates that the Ethiopian people have the wisdom and ability to independently resolve their internal differences through negotiation and dialogue,” he added.

 Further, the peace agreement shows that African people wisdom and capability of solving African problems in African ways which is the sure path toward to the settlement of the complex issues of the region, he said.  China always believes that the Tigray conflict is the domestic affairs of Ethiopia and should be resolved by the Ethiopian people themselves through negotiation and dialogue, he added.  China always respects Ethiopia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and supports the Ethiopian government and people’s efforts to achieve national peace, unity and development.
