University keen to network graduates with employers

ADDIS ABABA — Addis Ababa Science and Technology University (AASTU) stated that it has capitalized on equipping students or trainees with effective communication skills to make them fit employing organizations running consecutive trainings.

Speaking at a Job Fair Exhibition the university organized aiming at connecting employers with new graduates, AASTU President, Dereje Engida (PhD) said that the university is working to achieve the aim of fostering university industry linkage across the nation.

The job fair helps university graduates directly connect themselves with various public and private companies and expected to make the difficulty they have been facing in search of job easy, he said. Moreover, it enables the employers and job seekers to contact each other without any barrier after graduation.

Apart from this, the university has been providing students with consecutive trainings to help them develop their communication skills within the employer organizations.  “The event facilitated conditions for this year’s AASTU graduates to easily contact hiring companies after the graduation. About 50 companies connected with the graduates to employ them based on their area of specialization,” he said.

The connection will help the students get jobs in industries and social service organizations on permanent of contractual bases, he said. Participating in the exhibition, over 50 public and private companies introduced their products and services as well as their desire for injecting new blood.
