The Ministry of Innovation and Technology has been held national technology forum that aimed at expanding the culture of innovation, research support in order to boost startups in the country.
Opening the forum, Belete Molla (PhD), Minister of Ministry of Innovation and Technology noted that technological innovators and resource-driven startups should be given support and protection for their potential and skill.
Countries like Ethiopia, which have a lot of work to do in the areas of resource mobilization and entrepreneurship will be based on the encouragement and protection they provide for startups and technology entrepreneurship (today) to make their tomorrow’s development a success, he stated, adding that his Ministry will continue to work vigorously and continuously on the works that have made technology and innovation center across the country.
During the forum, Ethiopian Innovation and Research Office have also inaugurated its support application and notification parallel called Ethiopian Startups and Professionals and Research Support Service.
State Minister of the Ministry of Innovation and Technology for Research and Innovation Sector, Bisa Bedada (PhD), on his part said that one of the main tasks of the Ministry of Innovation Technology is to encourage, support and create conducive environment for innovation and innovation.
The State Minister stated that the role of the ministry is to make creative ideas change their minds to values and products so that they can be effective as it recognizes the significant contribution they make to national prosperity.
For the success of this task, innovators and entrepreneurs are the main actors, the Minister said, and recognize that incubation centers, stocks, financial institutions, the innovation and technology sector and public institutions should be integrated and install a constructive role to create a general innovation ecosystem.
Dr Bayissa further stated that the expansion and development of this effect is a testament to the development of the nation as the field of innovation and technology has contributed the largest share in the development of the developed countries for their growth.
Though technology is on the list of the top priorities in the country, the country has also potentials in science innovation and technology in terms of human resources and natural resources, the sector is not as encouraging as it is playing for the development of the country.
Therefore, it is stated that the Ministry is expected to undertake integrated and largescale activities by creating conducive policy and other related conditions that improve the sector.
Pointing out that this forum has created a good opportunity, participants stressed on the need to exchange of productive and good experiences, those they introduced technological ideas and products, were presented with ideas to create ties and resolve the growth stagnations in the sector.
