• PM Abiy’s marching to war front ‘game changer’
BY HAILE DEMEKE
ADDIS ABABA-The Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF) swift and decisive win in the strategic Gashena Front and their success in annihilating the rebellious element would irreversibly end TPLF foreign master’s illusion of reviving the dead clique, a high-level military officer said.
Speaking to local media, Lieutenant General(Lt. Gen.) Bacha Debele stated that the ENDF’s victory in Gashena has a profound military significance in paralyzing the combat effectiveness of the foreign-backed criminal group and dislodged the latter from vast areas in northern Ethiopia. In its vision of destabilizing Ethiopia, TPLF deployed child soldiers, elders and pregnant women to invade the Amhara and Afar states and used the town of Gashena to transport what it looted to Mekelle.
Lt. Gen. Bacha further highlighted that Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s (PhD) meticulous leadership from war fronts constitute the major factor for Ethiopia’s success in Gashena and the army’s morale and its combat effectiveness has been greatly enhanced. ENDF and its regional allies weakened TPLF and forced it to leave from its strongholds in Gashena and they are now heading to control the town of Weldiya, which is the seat of the North Wollo Zone of the Amhara State.
Noting Premier Abiy’s marching to the war front is a game changer in the course of the conflict, the officer emphasized that this unity of the people of Ethiopia will make the victory over.
Meanwhile, the Government Communications Service said the joint forces of the ENDF, Amhara Special Forces, Fano, and local militia led by Prime Minister Abiy, who is also the Commander-in-Chief, smashed TPLF’s concrete fortress in Gashena and reclaimed the historic town of Lalibela. The forces are currently marching to Sekota town with great determination to drive out the terrorist forces from the area.
Lt. Gen. Bacha praised the Ethiopian people and the Ethiopian Diaspora for their unwavering support for the army and urged them to consolidate their contribution. He further called on the people of Amhara to forbid the invading forces the way out and control dissidents willing to surrender and to take appropriate measures on those refusing to do so.
The sacrifices paid by our forefathers have made Ethiopia an icon of independence for the oppressed and this is a time to humiliate TPLF and its partners in crime working in tandem with Ethiopia’s historic enemies, the officer remarked.
