The global #NoMore Movement against Washington’s misguided foreign policy

Against the backdrop of Washington’s misguided foreign policy towards Ethiopia, many foreign activists, and renowned personalities have been joining the #NoMore Movement which is now trending globally. The U.S. has been moving heaven and earth to destabilize Ethiopia and leading the propaganda campaign supported by the now-discredited media outlets.

The #NoMore Global Movement is now attracting more Africans and foreign nationals who oppose the U.S. and other Western countries’ unfair intervention on Ethiopia and Africa. Among others, Chinese Foreign Ministry (FM) Spokesperson Wang Wenbin has joined the movement to denounce Western interference in the name of democracy in a given sovereign country.

In his social media post, the spokesperson officially joined the #No More Global Movement stating “O Democracy, how many crimes are committed in your name?!”

Similarly, last week, Ethiopian, Eritrean, Somali, Ivorian Diasporas in Oslo joined the #NoMore movement. The rally’s coordinators urged the international community to side with truth and justice by denouncing the terrorist TPLF remnants’ atrocities on the Amhara and Afar people.

“We Ethiopians, Eritreans, and Somalis, as well as Ivoirians, will continue struggling until the western conspiracy is conquered and Ethiopia’s sovereignty is ensured. Norway is expected to identify the root causes of the ongoing instability in Ethiopia and try to defend the Ethiopian government’s law enforcement measures against the terrorist group to the European Union (EU) and the United Nations (UN).”

By the same token, Addis residents held massive public rallies in front of the U.S. and UK embassies to denounce the respective countries’ unjustified pressure against the legitimate government. The gathering split at Arat Kilo and marched to the embassies of the U.S. and the UK in Addis Ababa.

“We Ethiopians respect other nations’ sovereignty and “we Ethiopians are guardians and icons of freedom for Africans’ freedom”. These statements were some of the slogans the demonstrators echoed around US and UK embassies in Addis Ababa.

Likewise, Ethiopians, other citizens of Ethiopian origin, and friends have rallied in more than 20 cities in Europe and North America with the “NoMore!” campaign to ram home Ethiopia’s truth to the international community. The demonstration aimed at reducing external pressure and interference in the country’s internal affairs.

A huge number of Ethiopian and Eritrean Diasporas as well as other compatriots that hail from the Horn of Africa staged historic and monumental rallies across 27 cities in the world.

It was learned that the rallies were part of the global movement against the U.S. and some Western countries’ intervention in the Horn of Africa countries’ internal as well as the international media outlets’ coordinated disinformation campaign against Ethiopia.

During the course of the rallies, protestors strongly condemned the U.S. and its allies’ undue pressure on Ethiopia and urged the international media outlets to stop spreading disinformation about the current situation of Ethiopia.

The rallies were held in Washington DC, Atlanta, New York, Seattle, Houston, San Francisco, London, Denver, Calgary, Ottawa, Dallas, Jerusalem, Toronto, Los Angles, Montreal, Quebec, Kingston, among others.

In addition, a peaceful demonstration organized by the Coalition of Civil Societies for Ethiopians (CoCSE) was held in the capital Addis Ababa in which participants also called Western media notably CNN and BBC to stop spewing fake news and justifying foreign intervention. The demonstrators urged the U.S. and UK government to withdraw their unwarranted support and sympathy to the terrorist TPLF clique.

CoCSE President Gashaw Shibabaw said vehicles across the country stopped for a minute and then move for nine minutes turning on the lights and making them symbolize the aphorism: “Though seeing, they do not see: though hearing, they do not hear.”

The West and their bribed media follow an unhelpful approach that defies Ethiopia’s commitment to peace, freedom, equality, and cooperation, he added.

“Some global powers have been exerting intensified attempts to interfere in Ethiopia’s internal affairs, violate its sovereignty, and threaten the wellbeing of the people and we have been vigorously requesting them to respect the will of the people.” This government’s legitimacy is guaranteed by the overwhelming support it has secured in June’s sixth General Elections.

Ethiopian Patriots Association President Lij Daniel Jote Mesfin said on the occasion that Ethiopians have a proud history of fending off aggression and intervention and victory will prevail through an intensified effort of the people.

“Foreign intervention is not new for us and we will overcome it as our forefathers and mothers did hundred years ago in the Battle of Adwa. We are poor, but Ethiopia is rich in all kinds of history and the society has a proud history defending itself.

The association president encouraged the young generation to make overwhelming participate in the Survival Campaign and curtail the threat posed on the public’s wellbeing.

The demonstrators also called on CNN, BBC, and other western media to restrain from disseminating false information about Ethiopia to defame the country and influence its government. The demonstrators have echoed more slogans like “the truth shall prevail”, “interference is not about democracy”, “US hands-off Ethiopia” and so on.

In a similar vein, the U.S. and its allies have been working in close collaboration with the intention of pursuing their hidden agenda and moving the nation into uncharted territory. Reasoning from this fact, they every so often come up with a wide spectrum of fictitious stories and mystify the international community.

Commenting on U.S foreign policy, Moscow-based American political analyst Andrew Korybko said in his article titled “The U.S. is Dangerously Flirting with the Afghan Scenario in Ethiopia,” Ethiopia might suspect that the U.S. has ulterior motives in threatening an uninvited military intervention into the country under the guise of evacuating its citizens who thus far do not even want to leave because they still feel safe in the capital.

He went on to note that CNN reported that the U.S. special operations forces in Djibouti aspire to enter Ethiopia if the situation is worsening. He has also exposed to the reader how dangerous it is that the U.S. is flirting with the Afghan scenario in Ethiopia.

Ethiopian Ambassador to the U.S, Fitsum Arega for his stated that the Biden Administration’s unwarranted pressure on Ethiopia’s legitimate government emanates from the former’s tendency of supporting rebel groups and the intervention would destabilize the strategic Horn of Africa.

The U.S. government and its Western allies’ support to the criminal faction would create favorable conditions for global terrorists that seek to further destabilize the turbulent region.

“The U.S. government is repeatedly requesting Ethiopia’s warring factions to stop the war and negotiate, which is wrong. There are no two warring parties and equating the terrorist group with the democratically elected government is unacceptable.”

In an interview with Press TV, Prof. Mohammed Hassan, the Former Ethiopian Diplomat said that some Western powers have been using terrorist TPLF to destabilize the Horn of African nations. That is why they are extending unreserved supports to the terrorists while it is operating against the legitimate government of Ethiopia.

Ethiopian people who live inside and abroad have been supporting the legitimate government of the country and condemning western powers and their media outlets for supporting the terrorist TPLF groups. The 27 years reign of the terrorist group was the reign of mismanagement, looting, and domination of one political party from one ethnic group which was robbing Ethiopian citizens. The group was initiating various ethnic and other-based conflicts to overthrow the legitimate government of the country. But it failed to get public acceptance and achieve its goal.
