Surprisingly, Ethiopia has lately become the focal point for global security issues out of nowhere. The international community, unlike any other time in the history of the world, is in the state of violent excitement about Ethiopia. Nobody could have thought about the situation until three years ago when she was trying to solve her internal affairs related to the military operation of maintaining law and order that was deliberately violated by TPLF in Tigray.
TPLF, by holding her regional election defying the time table set by the Federal Government clearly showed her insubordination to the law of the country. That act was the sheer indication of paving the way for the worse crime that was to follow. Pursuant to this, the massacre of thousands of military personnel in the largest Ethiopian base stationed in north Ethiopia cold-bloodedly by the TPLF was just casual news to the international community and nothing more than that. They did not even utter a word at least for the sake pretention; they turned blind eye and deaf ear while it was an inestimable grief to Ethiopians and friends of Ethiopia.as a matter of fact, not a single country raised its voice in condemnation of the atrocious act and none of them showed any interest to assist the federal government while it extended its reconciliatory hands in good faith to the TPLF junta.
Then, the flood gate of condemnation was wide opened as soon as the federal government embarked on the operation to restore law and order in Tigray regional state. The news of the situation triggered a unanimous condemnation throughout Europe and the United States for no apparent reason whatsoever. The United States was the vanguard in the unjust international movement against Ethiopia. The followers were echoing the hatred the Biden administration has for the democratically elected government that is spearheaded by Abiy Ahmed (PhD), the Prime Minister of Ethiopia. What a quick turnaround! The man they once honored and awarded a Nobel Prize as a man of peace is now labeled as international threat.
As a matter of fact, Ethiopia has become their common enemy for the very simple reason that she is bent on maintaining her sovereignty without affecting the interest of any of the countries that gang up on her. The intriguing issue here is that even the humanitarian organizations, far below the standard of their ethical principle, are engaged in disruptive process tirelessly. The humanitarian mask they donned has been easily removed through their day-to-day pervert activities and their real image is now clearly exposed. From which country they come from their deception is equally devastating to the national interest of Ethiopia. More than their nominal humanitarian mission, they take sides with the TPLF junta to enhance the damaging interest of the United States which in the long run is their interest too.
Because of their clandestine objective of dismantling Ethiopia to make it easier for them to manipulate several weak countries and exercise neocolonialism for which they all join hands. They are so frenzied that the authorities of the United States restlessly run from one Africa country to the other in the effort to influence them against Ethiopia. To achieve their objectives of weakening Ethiopia, they rally these countries behind them; in the process they either promise economic support or threaten to withdraw their assistance in case the countries challenged them.
In addition, their media are propaganda machines by which their fake news spread like wild fire throughout the world. Who knows they might gain benefit of some kind in doing so. In this regard, the United States and westerners are trying to weaken not only Ethiopia but the rest of Africa in order to gain access to the mineral resource under the pretext of restoring peace in the region. It is a fact that they employ all kinds of schemes and strategies to keep sub Saharan countries in utter poverty. It is universally known that among the schemes, loans and humanitarian assistance through which they control the economy of the poor countries in this part of Africa. They do all they can to disable sub Saharan countries to manufacture goods of high standard. And because of that the poor countries are forced to export raw materials with very low price. The tragedy of it is that these countries import the by-products of the raw materials exported with a very high price. The loans and the assistance regretfully make them economic prisoners mercilessly. The economic and military power and has the philosophy might is right. This is what Ethiopia is openly and boldly resisting and as opposed to this, some western countries, in collaboration with the United States, tirelessly doing all they can to abort it. Ethiopia is equally striving to achieve her objective of full swing development of the country depending on her policy of self-reliance.
Some political analysts are of the opinion that the disintegration of the Russian Federation can be cited as concrete proof in the recent history world. Along with this, the disaster done to countries of the Middle East cannot be ruled out. The United States is being framed by all freedom loving nations of the world as an existential threat to Ethiopia’s survival because of its conscious and intentional strategies. The writer believes that the country’s troubles are the result of the malignant intentions of an outside power. Yet, the Ethiopian government becomes the victim and the protector of the Ethiopian people, who in turn are expected to rally behind it for the survival of their nation.
As much as some international communities gang up on Ethiopia, there are other countries that share and uphold the sentiment of Ethiopia and are already showing interest; Italy can be cited as an example for her willingness to solve the problem AGOA that the United States deliberately imposed to subdue Ethiopia economically. Ethiopia’s case is staggeringly rocking the West and the United States. Akin to this, the United States is fully engaged in lobbying, a kind of influencing her European allies and some African countries against Ethiopia. As a result, traversing the world for this very purpose is now days a commonplace with American authorities. When the junta rebels attacked and occupied Dessie and Kombolcha and mercilessly bring down their punishment whip upon innocent civilians killing, raping, looting and causing a wide spread damage, where were Americans and her allies? But now when the people of Ethiopia are gaining ground, they are waging propaganda war. Their media are their best weapons in disseminating fake news to mar the good image of Ethiopia.
Some western countries and the United States are so one sided that they have virtually lost the decency of abiding by fair judgment in handling international politics. They are not faithful to the democratic principle that they claim to defend. In fact they are misleading the countries that follow them; in the process their democracy may not worth to adhere to. if the situation continues at the rate western countries and the United States propagate, Democracy will fall back to the state of nature in which the strong rule and the weak must suffer.
The issue is already surfacing; the United States is flexing its military muscle, threatening that is ready and able to invade a sovereign country as the US general of the US military base in Djibouti openly made a strong statement regarding the situation in northern Ethiopia. The United States does this not because it is concerned about the wellbeing of TPLF or Ethiopia. But because of its geographical interest in the Horn of Africa. Some Westerners are warning the world to fly over the air space of Ethiopia for incidence of attack from the ground – a situation which is consciously designed to discourage countries to have any relation with Ethiopia; it is a system of isolating Ethiopia from the rest of the world and attack her and force the government to yield to her desire. What a crazy and frenzy situation that is rocking the world!
