History repeating centuries-old valor, sacrifice

Prime Minister Abiy’s follows suits of brave kings, leaders by marching into battlefields to fight Ethiopia’s arch enemies

As starkly witnessed in various historical incidents, Ethiopia’s leaders including the most-revered ones had been sacrificing their lives for their dignity and sovereignty of their country alongside the men and women patriot warriors of Ethiopians. Some even had fallen in battlefields fighting foreign aggressors. Suffice it to mention, Emperor Tewodros I and Yohannes IV.

In a similar vein, Emperor Menelik II had led his army to Adwa victory with his determined wife Empress Taytu Betul. In Ethiopia, whether the leader is a king or president or prime minister nobody shy away from paying even the ultimate price to safeguard the sacred values of Ethiopianism, sovereignty, and dignity.

In fact, millions of hero and heroines of Ethiopians had paid the ultimate price to defend their freedom and perpetuate the sovereignty of the country. Ethiopian history is replete with centuries of scarification and heroism. As bravery and pride are on the DNA of Ethiopians, they all rally behind their leaders to neutralize threats poised against the national existence their country. These values are the mysteries behind Ethiopia’s uncolonized history.

It is these unique features that protect the country from foreign aggressors and internal traitors.

As history repeats itself, with Ethiopia facing internal and external existential threats, its current leaders have decided to put their boots on the ground to fight alongside the rank and file.

As the terrorist TPLF group continues its ongoing offensive against the Ethiopian people to dismantle the country, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and Prosperity Party leaders together with opposition leaders have decided to take part in the battlefield.

In his statement issued in his social media account, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said, “This is the time where we lead the country by sacrificing ourselves. I will march to war front from tomorrow onwards to lead the National Defense Forces of Ethiopia. All of you, who aspire to be one of Ethiopia’s most admired children, stand up for your country today; Let’s meet in person on the battlefield, Abiy said.”

“Ethiopia is a country that has maintained its dignity and independence through the sacrifices and bravery of its children. Ethiopia’s adversaries and friends know this reality on the ground. In fact, those who have tried to cross its boarders were able to witness its invisible arm.”

Those who came to conquer Ethiopia devotedly returned empty-handed. Obviously, Ethiopia knows how to give a lesson to those who are disloyal to her. The millennial freedom and sovereignty of the country were not bestowed by grace on the grounds that it is impossible to maintain freedom devoid of paying a price. As a matter of fact, for the name Ethiopia, the name of freedom, quite a lot of heroes have been sacrificed, the Prime Minister added.

“Our fathers whom we know in history are diverse in ideology and leadership. They as well possess a diverse attitude towards rights, justice, and equality. But when it comes to the territorial integrity of Ethiopia, its freedom, and sovereignty, there is no difference among them.”

Despite their differences in language, ethnicity, and ethnic diversity, their unwavering determination brings them together. No matter how far apart their personal interests are, Ethiopianness comes first when a common enemy comes along.

He further said, “From ancient time to the present day, the interest of each and every one of us and the lives of all of us is underneath Ethiopia. We would like to kick the bucket Ethiopia to live. We do want to have a country that belongs to all of us in addition to having a nation where justice and freedom are prevailed in the world arena on account of its greatness and freedom.”

Over the past three years, we have done the whole thing we could for Ethiopia. On top of that, we have made the political discourse of the country turn from killing to contestation. Moreover, we have attempted to bring back Ethiopians who were wandering overseas home as Ethiopia belongs to all of us. What is more, we managed to take the good from the past and move forward with forgiveness.

“We have done our best to put into effect what we have promised to tear down the walls of division and hatred and build a bridge of national brotherhoodness. Likewise, we pulled out all the stops to revitalize the economy and bring about structural change, improve our judiciary system, advance human rights record. We also revised the foreign policy and as made to neighborhood-oriented nations.”

He further stated that Ethiopia is a country that is pleasing to the eye. Its tomorrow is greater than its yesterday. Passing through twists and turns and turning out to be successful at the end is the usual knack of Ethiopia. It is inevitable that Ethiopia will turn out to be triumphant. “We are now in the final stages of coming to blows to save Ethiopia. Our enemies have been coordinated to attack us from inside and outside.”

“On the one hand, our historical enemies have been making every effort to prevent Ethiopia from growing on its own and in its own way. If Ethiopia rises and wins in an African way, it will never submit to anyone. They have brought into play all sorts of evil weapons to thwart this African way.”

External and internal enemies have set out to build their strength against Ethiopia’s weakness. Ethiopia’s interest is not abandoning but growing together. That is why we have made our foreign policy predominantly neighborhood-oriented. This is the struggle of all black people. It is a conspiracy to weaken Ethiopia and disgrace the black people through the imposition of new yoke of colonialism.

By the same token, the struggle is a battle targeting at making black people deliberately undermine our own history, culture, identity, and dignity. I would like to remind you that the campaign against Ethiopia is to weaken the country and black people not to have an example of freedom and victory. Therefore, in the spirit of Pan-Africanism, I call on all black people to stand with Ethiopia for the sake of the dignity and sovereignty of black people.

This is also the struggle of all Ethiopians. It is a fight to make our children have a country. It is a struggle to make our children walk proudly around the world in dignity and freedom. It is a struggle that determines whether we exist or not. But we will definitely win.

The people and the government of Ethiopia are at loggerheads with foreign adversaries and internal terrorist groups in their fight to defend their sovereignty, said the Ethiopian National Defense Force, said Dr. Abraham Belay, Ministry of Defense Forces.

“The people and the government of Ethiopia have clearly entered into a multi-faceted conflict with foreign enemies and internal terrorist groups and gangs to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.’’

He said the ultimate goal is a clear race to establish a weakened state that is weak and unable to protect its interests.

He noted that the Defense Forces, the Militia, the Special Forces and our auxiliary security forces, in coordination with our people at home and abroad, are responding swiftly.

The decisions of the Prime Minister and his Prosperity Party have come following the Party’s executive meeting held on Monday. Many more political figures and high-profile personalities are joining the cession of the Premier.
