Than bartering
Liberty and identity
For medicine or bread,
Even on the sickbed,
Every valorous citizen
Of resilient Ethiopia
Prefers get slashed
His/her head.
Devoid of freedom
S/he prefers not a life
Below the living
Above the dead.
As Ethiopians’ integrity
Was acid tested
And proven in ADWA
Buckles not we to
Weaponized allurements
Of AGOA.
Aid with a heinous
Political string
Is no other than
A snake’s sting.
To freedom fighters
A fortress society,
Will never change
Frank Ethiopia
Its identity.
Also holding fast
To the truth
Could not be misread
Being naughty.
Rather burying the truth
On the part of westerners
Proves uncouth.
