President Sahle-Work Zewdie discusses with President Obasanjo
President Sahle-Work Zewdie had a discussion on this week with President Obasanjo, former Nigerian President and who was recently appointed by the African Union as a special envoy for the Horn of Africa.
Tweeting on her official account following their meeting, President Sahle-Work said, “There is always a window of opportunity for a peaceful political solution to any armed conflict that should never be closed.”
Meanwhile President Sahle-Work Zewdie also received the credentials of newly appointed ambassadors of Thailand, New Zealand, Denmark, Djibouti, Australia, the European Union and Egypt.
The President expressed Ethiopia’s commitment to deepen and strengthen relations between Ethiopia and their respective countries.
Demeke Mekonnen meets Indian Foreign Minister Sub-Rahman Jaishkar
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, Demeke Mekonnen, met with Indian Foreign Minister Sub-Rahman Jaishkar during his work visit in New York.
Their discussion focused on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) and the current situation in the country. Constructive ideas have been exchanged on issues of mutual interest.
Demeke lauded India’s support to the United Nations Security Council on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam and the current situation in northern Ethiopia.
Being thankful for the Indian government for its steadfastness and support in this important moment in the House; Demeke asserted that the two countries need to strengthen coordination on other common interests and areas.
Through strengthening the bilateral relation of the two countries, Ambassador Tizita Mulugeta, Ethiopian Ambassador to India, had also a productive conversation with the president of the Global India Business Forum by this week.
During their discussion, Ambassador Tizita emphasized the need to work together to promote Ethiopia’s trade and investment opportunities. The two sides agreed to organize an industry-specific Indian business delegation to Ethiopia.
Ambassador Admasu Tsegaye holds virtual farewell meeting with higher officials of Singapore, Cambodia, and Malaysia
Ambassador Admasu Tsegaye paid a virtual farewell call to H.E. Gilbert Oh, South East Asia and Africa Director-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore, on 30 September 2021.
In the meeting the status of the ongoing major bilateral relations in trade, investment, and Scientific Cooperation was discussed. Ambassador Admasu also highlighted the
new modality of accreditations to some of Ethiopia’s diplomatic missions all over the world.
The Ambassador further briefed the Director-General on the aggression of TPLF, the status of the trilateral negotiation on GERD, the Ethio-Sudan border conflict, and the national election. The two sides exchanged views and set directions to further advance the cooperation between the two countries in the area of trade, investment, Scientific and Technical and Cooperation.
Finally, the Ambassador expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore for providing valuable training to Ethiopian experts and government officials through Singapore Technical Cooperation. In this part, the Director-General wished the Ambassador greater success as he departs from Jakarta to Ethiopia.
Similarly Ambassador Admasu had a fruitful virtual farewell meeting with H.E. UK Sarun, Undersecretary of State of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia on 28 September 2021.
Ambassador Admasu highlighted the major activities that were conducted in the past 2 years to strengthen the bilateral relations between Ethiopia and the Kingdom of Cambodia. He further highlighted the new modality of accreditations to some of Ethiopia’s diplomatic missions all over the world.
The Ambassador also briefed the Undersecretary of State on the aggression of TPLF, the status of the trilateral negotiation on GERD, the Ethio-Sudan border conflict and the national election. The two sides exchanged views on further strengthening the cooperation between the two countries.
Finally, the Ambassador expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Royal Family of Cambodia, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and International Cooperation of Cambodia as well as all officials for the support and cooperation extended to him during his tenure. In his part, the Undersecretary wished success and all the best for Ambassador Admasu.
By the same token, a virtual farewell meeting was conducted between Ambassador Admasu and Amarjit Singh Sarjit Singh, Undersecretary of Africa division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia upon the end of the Ambassador’s term.
At the outset, Ambassador Admasu summarized the achievements of the Embassy during his tenure and further explained the new modality of accreditations to some of Ethiopia’s diplomatic missions all over the world. During the meeting, the two sides also exchanged views on the ongoing bilateral relations in the areas of Trade, Investment, Higher Education, Health, and Cultural Diplomacy.
Ambassador Admasu also highlighted the current situation in Ethiopia and the horn of Africa focusing on the aggression of TPLF and the status of negotiation on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam.
Finally, Ambassador Admasu expressed his appreciation for the continued support he received from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, all Sector Ministries, the business communities, and the society at large. Both sides emphasized their commitment to strengthen the bilateral relationship that has been existed for a long period of time.
Ambassador Jemal Beker hold talks with Undersecretary of Interior Ministry of Bahrain
H.E. Ambassador Jemal Beker, Consul General of Ethiopia to the Kingdom of Bahrain had a productive discussion with Undersecretary of Interior Ministry of Bahrain on a range of issues, including the security, protection, rights and privileges of Ethiopian Citizens.
The two sides have agreed to promote and protect the rights of Ethiopian citizens and resolve their problems together as they emerge.
Ambassador Demitu Hambisa confers with H.E. Luca Maestripieri
Her Excellency Ambassador Demitu Hambisa met with the Director General of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, H.E. Luca Maestripieri this week.
Ambassador Demitu recalled the excellent relationship between Ethiopia and Italy. The two parties discussed to maintain the existing bilateral relations and to strengthen the cooperation between the two countries.
