Various artistic performances that had been toured in and out of the country under the theme of Hizb Le Hizb or People-to-People did win admiration and support world over and thumbs up gesture of the mass over the past three governments.
After years of disruption, this national artistic performance seem to see a green light as the veteran artists are undertaking preparations to organize the art exhibition following a go ahead from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism (MoCT).
The show is to kick start once again with the objective of motivating the people for national cause, and building the good image of the country through consolidating unity, disclosed Playwright and Author Ayalneh Mulatu who is among the organizers and who had been also the patron of the previous events with the same theme.
“We are flexing muscles to bring this national artistic program back to the stage despite some shortcomings including the meager budget that has been earmarked by MoCT to this end,” he noted.
He told The Ethiopian Herald that preparations of script writing, stage directing, choreographers and Directors selecting to the musical theatre have been through. The task will involvearound 50 people.
Ayalneh is the one who wrote the script of the theatre which focuses on culture and history of Ethiopia and its people. Scholars from Addis Ababa University have completed their critique after assessing and adding their recommendation on the script, he stated.
“We made some changes in the story of the previous theatres in light of the current statuesque of the country.”
The present-day technology will help to add more flavors and remove errors in the new people-to -people platform when it is opened officially, according to Ayalneh.
The accentuating music is being prepared by the father of Ethio-Jazz, Mulatu Astatke who has drawn important experience in the previous stages of the People-to-people and his own concerts.
He is the one who produces music which will flow with the story harmoniously and catch the attention of the audience to glue them with the theatre, Ayalneh disclosed.
“But we are still looking for a catalytic support from MoCT to realize it.”
Following the finalization of the preparation, the play will be seen in the country in some selected cities in line with the support of MoCT and the situation of the country, he expressed.
People-to-people is a memorable art exhibition composed of musical and mime theatres that tour across the world which was successful in strengthening unity and building the good image of the country before it was disrupted. Fortunately, this precious artistic performance is to tour under Ethiopian skies once again to preach peace and unity.
