Today, Ethiopians are celebrating the new Ethiopian New Year, Meskerem 1, 2014. Passing almost the three months of rainy, stormy and dark season, today Ethiopians have started counting the brightest month Meskerem, in which all valleys, hills, mountains and plateaus are adorned with greener pastures and yellow daisies known as Adey Abeba- an indigenous flower that blooms fully in the month of Meskerem and heralded the beginning of the New Year, symbolizes new beginnings, hope and better future.
On Meskerem, rivers flow calmly and tranquilly, birds sing pleasantly, children rejoice and run here and there happily, young people plans optimistically.
Meskerm is a promising month for Ethiopians. It is a month they hope for the better and plan for the future.
In fact, the just concluded old year was the most challenging time for Ethiopia and Ethiopians. The pandemic of the Coronavirus, the peace and security threats that were orchestrated by nation’s enemies, the invasion of desert locust among others have tested nation’s territorial integrity, its people peace and security and nation’s socioeconomic progresses.
Currently, the country is in more challenging moments than before owing to its internal and external enemies. Following the conspiracies orchestrated by the terrorist TPLF faction and its minions that are working day in day out to disrupt nation’s peace and security, the country has entered into war contrary to its will.
In truth, such incidents are not new for Ethiopia as it has experienced similar happenings more than once in its history. However, thanks to its gallant children indomitable spirit and concerted hands, it can beat all its enemies; score a decisive victory and recorded peerless history not only for itself; but also for all African countries and black people globally.
If not for its gallant children, Ethiopia today would be one that would be unrecognizable by the modern inhabitants of this land.
We, Ethiopians, have the ability to deal with our own affairs and respond to every action fittingly through united actions. We also know as we can achieve the most when we work together, bring together all of our strengths, harness our collective potentials for the common good of all.
Due to this, at this critical moment in which our country is calling us to protect it from its enemies, we have come together and stood as one to thwart nation’s enemies, abort their disgracing intents and herald Ethiopia’s renaissance.
No doubt, the current darkness and gloomy days would also pass away and the dawning of a brighter day would come so soon. Our light would come and we would realize our vision and goal; and see the bright day we, Ethiopians, aspire to come.
Irrefutably, Ethiopia will take its former glory, and continues to be a symbol of Africa’s redemption, and an inspirational country for the generations to come.
Its daring children both living at home and scattered across the globe will realize its renaissance and glorify it like the Jews have done for Israel.
In actual fact, the challenges that Ethiopia has now encountered are only the tips of the icebergs as there may be many more hindrances following the development endeavors the nation has already embarked on. However, we have to join hands more than ever and work committedly to curb all the malevolent acts that we may come from nation’s enemies to ensuring Ethiopia’s development and prosperous.
As Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed stated recently in relation to “Day of Heroism” marked last Pagumen 4, (Sep.9) nationwide, a nation should have all kinds of heroes to stand by its own, be self-reliant and to enable decide its own fate.
A hero cannot survive in the absence other hero’s support. A country will be harm in areas where there are no heroes.”
As the Premier twitted, heroism is the outcome of hard work, endurance, perseverance, and success. Heroism is multifaceted. There are heroes in the military, agriculture, science, business, academic, art, system of government, service provider, and other sectors.
In similar way, the PM in relation to Ethiopianism Day celebrated Pagumen 1 (Sep. 6) he said that Ethiopianism is a force that unifies Ethiopians.
Ethiopianism is a value that gets Ethiopians who have similar multicultural language, faith, values and outlook together for the same goal and purpose- for Ethiopia. According to him, for our Ethiopianness, our diversity is our pillar, our heroism is its boundary, our unity is its lifeblood and our freedom is the way.
True, the existence of Ethiopia- its sovereignty and national integrity- is not a matter that we negotiate or compromise it. In whatever the situation, we stand together and protect its sovereignty. While we are celebrating the Ethiopian New Year, we renew our commitment in this regard.
