Ethiopians do not hesitate for a fraction of a second or lose no time in defending the sovereignty of the nation. Whatever the reason, they do not compromise on this matter and allow any entity to encroach upon nation’s territorial integrity. To make this happen, they always keep themselves committed and stay ready to obliterate their enemies in honor of Ethiopia.
What is happening now also shows this reality clearly. Following the provocative evil acts of the traitors, terrorist enterprise, Ethiopians regardless of any differences have vowed to stand squarely and support the defense forces in every possible way including sacrificing their lives.
Many youths are also joining the national defense forces willingly and committedly.
“If we, Ethiopians, stand together, leave alone the terrorist faction, even those well civilized and weaponized countries did not beat us. The world also knows this cold, hard truth,” said Aster Alemayehu, resident of Dilla Town, in the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples State (SNNPS).
Aster is one of the mothers who sent their children to warfront respecting the call made to rescue Ethiopia.
It was at a time she was preparing dried food for the armies, the ENA reporter met her.
As to her, getting into war is not Ethiopia’s interest and it is not also a thing what Ethiopians want. However, if we are compelled to do so, we do not hesitate or shrink for a moment to defend our sovereignty.
True, Ethiopians always have a common agenda they cannot ignore it; but make them come together as one in what situation they might be. At all times, the sovereignty of the country and its territorial integrity drive them to respond quickly and stand decisively. Because they are Ethiopians and they are doing it for the good of their beloved country, Ethiopia.
Astonishingly, in times of such crisis, Ethiopians are not only limited in marching to warfronts or preparing dried food for the army to show solidarity. They are also dedicated in supporting and caring families of the army in every possible.
Ranging from refurbishing houses of members of the army to mobilizing resources to supporting financially and materially as well as in agriculture related activities, the communities are supporting the families.
Recently, the people residing in Amhara State and the surrounding areas of Bahir Dar have given a helping hand in agricultural activities for families of the militias who are marching to warfronts to join the national defense forces.
According to Eneye Assefa, Crop Expert at the Amhara State Agriculture Bureau, in the State, in various areas of the State, the communities are providing support in organized manner for the families of members of the militia who are marching to warfronts to thwart the terrorist TPLF group that is committing treasonous acts against the people and the country.
In the past few days merely, a total of 21,000 hectares of land owned by over 11,000 militia members has been cultivated in various parts of the state. In addition, the activity of weeding has also been carried out. So far, activities that involve over 143 thousand people and targeting on lending a helping hand for families of the militia in agricultural undertakings are ongoing, as the expert expressed to ENA.
Agricultural experts and kebele leaders are also closely monitoring the farming activities, she further said.
Farmer Getnet Eskeziya is a resident of Wonjita Kebele, one of the surrounding areas of Bahir Dar. As to him, along with companions, he dug and weed plots of two militiamen in which they had sown corn before they departed to the warfront.
“We are duty-bounded to support and give care for families of the militiamen. Thus, we will continue until they return home in victory,” he vowed.
Singing the same tune, Haramaya University has also expressed solidarity and belongingness to members of the national defense forces, special forces and the militias.
In a recent meeting they held, the University’s community, both employees and the leaderships have revealed belongingness to the army. Apart from donating blood and essential food and nonfood materials, and contributing their salary which is over 36.5 million Birr for the existential campaign, they also expressed as preparation is continuing to provide educational opportunities to the children and families of the defense forces who are making sacrifice to protect country’s sovereignty and its territorial integrity.
According to information gathered from University’s public and International Relations Directorate, the University’s communities have also vowed to carry out their responsibilities and duties with integrity and commitment.
“We will show our respect for our country by fulfilling our duties and responsibilities accordingly. We will also exert utmost effort and play a key role in maintaining peace and security in the State. We stand together with security forces,” they pledged.
Noting that the financial support they provided to sustain peace and security is insignificant compared to the sacrifice the army is paying, the University community vowed to backing the campaign in every possible way until it is completed victoriously.
