BY STAFF REPORTER

When the name Ethiopia is called, the first thing that comes to everyone’s mind is the braveness of its people, sense of patriotism and the deep attachment to their country, their national pride and togetherness both in times of weal and woe.

No matter how far Ethiopians are situated or in what conditions they are in-be it in harsh or comfortable situations-their sense of attachment to their homeland is always at the top. Wherever they are, they have always the same sentiment and stand together putting aside their differences if there is any.

This longstanding culture of the people also attested time and again when the country was in pressing moments owing to by numerous unwelcoming incidents at different times and different situations.

Even in times when nation’s enemies are plotting to dismantle the country thinking that Ethiopians are in different ideological perspectives; and trying to grab the occasion as a favorable opportunity to fulfill their evil missions, its people have manifested their oneness by aborting their ill intents.

The Battle of Adwa and the Ethio-Somali War in which Ethiopians put off their differences and stood together to defend the sovereignty of the country and its territorial integrity are the best showcases in this regard.

Not only in bad times, but also in good times, Ethiopians are always ready to serve the interest of the country. The commitment they have shown and the effort they have exerted to see the successful completion of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam is the  other indication of how they are harmonious people.

Recently, following the destructive acts of the terrorist TPLF group; its cliques residing in overseas as well as some international organizations and countries, Ethiopians here at home and abroad, from all walks of life, are showing their solidarity for the Ethiopian Defense Forces and denouncing foreign interference.

Singing the same tune, the Diaspora communities who are residing in different parts of the globe are also showing their support for the national defense force and denouncing the act of some international organizations, countries, and individuals.

Particularly, Ethiopians who are living in Washington D.C. and the surrounding cities in the United States held rally to show solidarity for the national defense forces of Ethiopia as well as to support the under-construction Dam-the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).

Ambassador of Ethiopia in the United States Fitsum Arega, and Ethiopia’s UN permanent representative Ambassador Taye Atske Selassie have addressed the gathering expressing their appreciation for the Ethiopians in the Diaspora who have actively been contributing to the development of their country.

According to the information obtained from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, Ambassador Fitsum also urged the Ethiopian Diaspora to continue their public diplomacy and their support for the Ethiopian national defense force, which at the moment is engaged in foiling the attempt of the terrorist group – TPLF that has been working to destabilize Ethiopia.

In addition to financial support for the construction of GERD, Ambassador Fitsum also urged the Ethiopians in the diaspora to invest in their country.

The rally was organized by Peace and Unity for Ethiopia, a civic society established by Ethiopians in the United States, the report further stated.

In a similar way, Ethiopian and Eritrean Diasporas along with friends of Ethiopia in Frankfurt, Germany, held a large-scale public rally to ask the U.S. government and other G7 member states to cease supporting the terrorist TPLF clique.

As to the information obtained from Ethiopian Diaspora Agency, the rally was organized by Ethiopians Forum for Dialogue and Cooperation in partnership with members of the Eritrean community in Germany.

“Supporting the terrorist TPLF is allowing the suffering of the people of Ethiopia and other Horn of African countries,” the Diasporas said, adding that global powers need to withdraw their support.

The unjustified measures the U.S. and EU have made to the resurrection of the dead faction make the people of Ethiopia and other Horn of African countries united, the demonstrators added. The participants also denounced attempts of meddling in Ethiopia’s domestic affairs.

They informed the German Government that the terrorist enterprise’s breach of the humanitarian cease-fire and its continued provocation of Amhara and Afar states utilizing child soldiers. Accordingly, the international community is expected to condemn war crimes fugitives of justice have been executed in conscripting and deploying underage children to military engagement.

Applauding the noble sacrifice members of the Ethiopian National Defense Forces and other security organs have paid to the peace and unity of the country, the Diasporas asserted their unwavering support to the former.

It is to be recalled that Ethiopians living at home and abroad have also been expressing their joy on the second filling of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam in various ways.

In a nutshell, Ethiopia and Ethiopianism is like this. In times of both good and bad moments stand as one, defend the sovereignty of the nation, and uphold its territorial integrity at all costs.
