Being very much aware of the ongoing and coordinated information warfare waged against Ethiopia, Ethiopia’s Current Issues Fact Check has been pulling out all the stops to acquaint the international community with the hard facts of the existing situation in the Tigray State.
For instance, this information filtering system has been sending a repeated warning signal to the international community and media outlets on a possible plan of hoax story by the terrorist TPLF on mass killings around Humera town of Ethiopia.
The signals have largely fallen on deaf ears of the international media outlets; the hoax story has unfolded as predicted though with the dozens of media echoing the fake story. It was in accordance with the Fact Check’s predictions indeed.
Some international media outlets disseminated information saying dozens of bodies were found in the river between. Despondently, Aljazeera reported that at least 30 corpses have washed up on the Sudanese banks of a river quoting two Ethiopian refugees and four Sudanese people as witnesses.
The journalists did not make an effort to balance the story. It is a one-sided story that did not reflect the existing genuineness on the ground.
Critically lacking objective elements on the reports, the media outlets are not sticking to journalistic ethics and principles, they are mystifying the international community over and over again.
Ethiopia Current Issues Fact Check on Tuesday following the dissemination of the hoax story indicated that the fake ‘Humera Massacre’ campaign by TPLF propagandists has been revived again using false images and showing graphic images.
“We ask all to disrupt and prevent the dissemination of fabricated and misleading information”. It added.
The Fact Check further said that it has received information that the faction’s propaganda wing has prepared audio-visual materials for the ‘Humera Massacre’ movement.
In response to the reports, Amhara Regional State Communications Affairs Office Director, Gizachew Muluneh said the report saying massacres have occurred in Humera in Tigrayans was orchestrated by the terrorist TPLF Junta and their accomplices. As a matter of fact, this does not at all reflect the mindset of the people of Amhara.
In the same way, it is more important to understand the fact that The Washington Post and Associated Press have reported wrongly on the topic of the aforementioned case.
TPLF terrorist group has dumped the bodies of its fighters killed the law enforcement operation into a river love of hiding them from the sight of the people of Tigray. However, the terrorist group is claiming that the people of Amhara have assassinated civilians.
In Amhara Regional State, people regardless of religion, language, ethnic background, and things of that sort can live their human and democratic rights respected. We are not like that of the terrorist TPLF Junta to get ourselves involved in that kind of evil deeds, he added.
According to Pacifica Radio’s COVID, Race, and Democracy show website, throughout the conflict, Western press and officials have characterized the Tigraian people as victims of genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity and rallied support for humanitarian intervention, even though their former proxy, the TPLF, started the war.
The dominant Western press, notably The New York Times, Washington Post, BBC, Guardian, and Al Jazeera, all engage in what has become a readily recognizable genre of unsubstantiated atrocity reporting deployed to manufacture consent for
censure, sanctions, international criminal indictments, and perhaps even war against Ethiopia, as they have against Libya, Syria, Venezuela and other antagonists of empires, according to the website.
In a previously published article, speaking of the ongoing misinformation directed against Ethiopia, Dr. Tesfaye Bezabih, Journalism and Communication Lecturer and International Relations Head at Wollo University told The Ethiopian Herald that apart from getting themselves off track and distancing themselves from utilizing reliable sources and keeping up to date the international community with the existing reality on the ground, international media outlets have been missing the target by bewildering the international community.
He went on to say, “International media outlets should crosscheck facts before broadcasting a lopsided story and baffling the international community with disinformation and cooked-up stories. As most stories created by international media outlets create misperception and flummox the international community, they should spare no effort to present tangible information and distance themselves from disinformation.”
While keeping reporting unverified stories, the international community together with global media failed to show concern to gruesome killings by the terrorist TPLF group.
Encouraged by the silent and hypocritical international ‘humanitarian’ organizations which have given cold shoulder to the confirmed killings of thousands of ethnic Amharas in Mai Kadra, the terrorist enterprise is now falsely putting the people of Tigray on the victim’s side.
There are abundant records and independent findings that over 1,600 ethnic Amharas were slaughtered by TPLF-affiliated outlawed youth group, Samri in the town of Mai Kadra last November just prior to the federal government’s military response to the clique’s criminal happenings.
