I had this friend who now is somewhere across the Atlantic, in that part of the world whose actions are getting more weird by the day! “I never knew they were so callous, so inconsiderate and to top it all so venomous!” Things just don’t add up! Out of the blue, all those opinions you formed over the years come crashing down so hard that you wonder how on earth you failed to see the signs for so long. You know when you come to really think about it a one big problem with us is that we equate money and riches for brains, for truthfulness, for being close to the ‘perfect human being’ being if there ever is one.
This friend calls me a couple of weeks back and we talk about things happening all over the place with almost everybody seeming to thrust their hands into the Ethiopian pie! Mysterious and alarming at the same time! And when new facts come out about the age-old blueprint to reconfigure this country of thousands of years of proud history. The more we know the more we become aware of the rule of the conspiratorial game and the player who pushes the buttons.
This friend who used to work in an international organization while still here said, “Look, even there in our country there were many organizations set up just to milk money in the name of all kinds of humanitarian assistance. And we never raised a finger in protest when the funds went into allowing the sly ones live the lives of luxury with funds meant for the poor and the destitute. One important point my friend raised was that during the seventeen-year war the rebels brought in arms into the country in the name of humanitarian assistance. (I remember once a top official saying that they even smuggled in tanks in the name of humanitarian assistance.)
My friend’s argument is that most of so-called humanitarian organizations have never been real friends of the country concerned for the wellbeing of its people as their smiling faces try to suggest. Under our very eyes worker who managed to discover how and when to move their chess pieces made the most of it, and may modern vials built in earlier ears have the taint of money meant for the needy.
Such international organizations were goldmine of sorts. And no wonder they smuggle in cases of military hardware in containers official registered as holding milk or something life-saving product.
Somewhere down the line for the gold-diggers ‘alleviating poverty,’ ‘humanitarian intervention,” ‘emergency response: and scores of jargon-filled ‘projects’ proved to be cash cows. (Remember that classic work ‘Lords of poverty?’ But whether we really gave it consideration is another matter.) Not only that, behind the scenes they became political tools too. Tools which under the pretext of coming to the help of the needy were used to try to bring people of strong resolve to their knees.
Look what is happening now! Look at the sly, devilish machinations of groups supposedly set up to make the world a better place for all working to make it the worst place for us. Look at the blatant lies, deceptions and outright arrogance from those quarters trying to cut us down ‘to our sizes.’ Look at the double standard they couldn’t hide or rationalize in any way being orchestrated under the very eyes of the world. Look at eh doves all of a sudden grow horns, because that’s what is happening.
At this point we have to give credit to those who, devoid of any hidden political conspiracies, do their best to make this world indeed a better place. Over the years they have been at our sides in our times of need and helped us ride out the storms of natural and man-made disasters. Because of them, millions found shoulders to lean on.
We’re watching! Now that all those events which transpired over the past several months have shown us political leaders, humanitarian organizations and others for what they are, we’ll not be caught napping. After all, the cat didn’t come out of the bag a claw at a time; it jumped out! We’re now seeing the real picture behind the wide smiles!
