Public euphoria in a show of solidarity with ENDF

BY ADDISALEM MULAT

Something unexpected came to pass in the early morning of 4 November 2020. The thing was, the terrorist Junta attacked the Northern command of the Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF), which was stationed in the Tigray region for close to quarter a century, to come into power.

For the sake of truth, the treasonous act ended up causing unimaginable human suffering. The evil deeds of the TPLF broke the hearts and minds of all Ethiopians at the drop of a hat and turned out to be the talk of each and every one at the earliest possible time.

As things stand at present, before Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed came to power, the terrorist group was turning the lives of the population as a whole into a living hell and moving the country into uncharted territory. As the terrorist officials were backing the country into a corner, the future of the country was hanging in the balance time and time again. To cut a long story short, the whole thing was getting off track.

However, when Prime Minister Abiy took office, everything all over the country set in motion getting back on track almost immediately.

Sad as it might sound, through the passage of time, the terrorist group embarked on sowing the seeds of hatred, sense of jealousy, suspicious, amid the various Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples’ of Ethiopia and stoking unrest all over the country. On the basis thereof, many people departed this life and fell in trouble.

Notwithstanding the fact that the government of Ethiopia made every effort to get to the bottom of the problem in an atmosphere of calm, the terrorist junta kept on getting off track over and over again and putting in danger the lives of the people.

In the fullness of time when Ethiopian National Defense Forces kick-started undertakings law enforcement operations targeting at putting into effect law and order, bringing absconders to justice, reinstating legitimate management and things of that sort, the junta embarked perplexing the international community with cooked up stories.

Despondently, despite the international community knows the honest truth; they have been turning a blind eye to the existing reality on the ground.

Following the attack on the National Defense Forces, Ethiopians have been expressing their disappointment and grievance in several ways.

Be that as it may, yesterday morning, Ethiopians residing in every nook and cranny of Addis Ababa and its environs headed straight to Meskel Square with the object of condemning the evil deeds of the terrorist junta and showing solidarity with the Ethiopian National Defense Forces.

To the surprise of everyone, most of the residents of Addis Ababa were adorning themselves from top to bottom with a green, yellow and red flag and carrying a broad spectrum of slogans condemning the Junta’s evil deeds and the interference of the international community in the internal affairs of Ethiopians.

In a similar vein, on the occasion, most of the people touched upon a wide spectrum of topics such as the second phase filling of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, the fruitful completion of the six national elections, and things of that sort.

Apart from condemning the terrorist TPLF officials, they have been rallying in a show of solidarity with the Ethiopian National Defense Forces.

If truth be told, people from all walks of life have been decorating themselves from top to toe with traditional Ethiopian clothes and an Ethiopian flag that wins the hearts and minds of everyone in the twinkling of an eye.

Most of the people in the Meskel Square were shouting various slogans such as hands-off Ethiopia, we shall not go down by fabricated accusations, Ethiopia has prevailed, Ethiopia’s army is an army of truth and justice, TPLF is Ethiopia’s cancer, we will keep our peace through national unity, the aspirations of Ethiopians are peace, unity, and prosperity, the secrets of our victory are justice and truth, ‘Respect Ethiopia’s sovereignty’, ‘Stop meddling in our internal affairs and other related aspects.

The Ethiopian Herald approached one of the residents of Addis Ababa who goes by the name of Tefera Berihun to have his reflection on the subject of the rally. He said, “This is a great achievement for Ethiopia. Ethiopians have shown their solidarity and proved their oneness. If we work in close collaboration, we can achieve anything in the shortest possible time,”

“The Ethiopian National Defense Forces is known for their heroic deeds worldwide. As they know the secret of winning, they every so often stand shoulder high and become the talk of the world in a little while. As Ethiopians always stand by the side of the Ethiopian National Defense Forces, they turn out to be victorious over their adversaries after a short time. The whole thing in the Meskel Square was really pleasant to the eye,” he continued.

“To the best of my knowledge, this kind of rally should take place in various parts of the nation in a show of solidarity,” he added.

“It is no secret that the terrorist Junta played a part in stoking skirmish and claiming the lives of civilians in numerous parts of the nation. On top of that, they vowed that they would not go along with laws, orders, principles, and things of that sort. Though the terrorist junta left no stone unturned to take the country to uncharted territory, all their efforts went for nothing,” he wrapped up.

Regarding the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, one of the participants of the rally said, “I am feeling on top of the world following the successful completion of the second filling of the dam. I dare say when the dam sees the light of day Ethiopia would go to the next level of achievement without a shred of a doubt. What is more, the dam will provide millions of Ethiopians residing in various parts of the country with electricity,” he added.

There is no gainsaying the fact that Ethiopia has been at loggerheads with the downstream nations. Despite the fact that Ethiopia has been making an effort to resolve the Nile issue peacefully, the envisioned target has not been achieved owing to the reluctance of Egypt.

Above and beyond, Egypt has not ever endeavored to resolve the Nile issue peacefully with Ethiopia. Apart from using the issue of the Nile River as a way out for their internal problems, the government of Egypt attempted to destabilize Ethiopia utilizing various strategies.
