Dagmawit Moges delivers Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s Message addressed to Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte
Dagmawit Moges, Transport Minister of Ethiopia had paid a visit to the Netherlands heading an Ethiopian delegation to deliver Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed’s (PhD) special message addressed to the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Mark Rutte.
Accompanied by Chief of Cabinet of the Office of the Foreign Minister, H.E. Ambassador Mehreteab Mulugeta, and Ethiopia’s Ambassador to the Netherlands, H.E. Million Samuel, Dagmawit delivered the Prime Minister’s message to H.E. Sigrid Kaag, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation of the Netherlands.
During the meeting, the two sides covered main issues related to the situation in Tigray, the upcoming national elections, Ethiopia’s position on the GERD negotiations, and the Ethiopia-Sudan border dispute.
Their discussion on Tigray focused upon the ongoing humanitarian efforts that the government of Ethiopia has been undertaking so far and the importance of scaling up international support in this regard.
Dagmawit has addressed concerns related to access to humanitarian operators in the region and clarified issues on the international community‘s misunderstanding in putting the federal government on equal footing with the TPLF, a group that wreaked havoc in the country since the establishment of the current administration.
The Netherlands’ Foreign Minister affirmed her government’s commitment to supporting the humanitarian efforts of the Ethiopian government in the Tigray region adding that the Netherlands will continue supporting the multifaceted reform programs of the government of Ethiopia.
According to Dagmawit, the dialogue with various political parties, the opportunities opened for dissidents to participate in the political life of the country and all the efforts made to make the electoral process transparent coupled with legislative and institutional reforms have paved the way to realize the government’s plan to make the upcoming general election fair and credible.
Discussing the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, Dagmawit explained how the intransigence of Egypt and Sudan stalled the talks and appreciated the AU-led process while Sigrid Kaag said her country is ready to share its technical experience in this regard.
The issue of the Ethiopia-Sudan border dispute was a subject put on the table where the two sides affirmed dialogue as the only option to solve the issue amicably.
Ambassador Mulu Solomon participated on 25th Berlin International Gathering 2021
On June 18, 2021, H.E. Ambassador Mulu Solomon Bezuneh, Special Envoy, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the Federal Republic of Germany has participated on Berlin International Gathering 2021 on virtual meeting and sent Her Excellency’s recorded greeting statement for the occasion upon invitation.
During the occasion, high dignitaries participated from all over the world. To mention some dignitaries who gave greeting statements were President of German Parliament Honorable Dr. Wofgang Schauble, former President of the German Parliament Honorable Dr. Norbert Lammert and H.E. David Beasley, Executive Director of the United Nations World Food Program.
H.E. Ambassador Mulu Solomon, has briefly shared with the main gathering and the breakout group and explained the fact about Ethiopia’s situation in Tigray region and Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), affirmed Ethiopia’s principled position on the Nile waters and how Ethiopia is addressing the humanitarian need assistance.
Moreover, she briefed the Independent investigation institutions for alleged human right violations working in Tigray, serious commitment of the Ethiopian government to bring human right violators to justice, and called for support than undue pressure on Ethiopia. This gathering takes place every year and has great importance for basic values and international understanding of human beings of the World in many aspects.

Ambassador Professor Admasu Tsegaye paid a courtesy visit to Shri. Manoj Kumar Bharti Ambassador of India to Indonesia and highlighted the humanitarian assistance in Tigray, the status of the tripartite negotiation on GERD and the invasion of Ethiopian territory by the Sudanese army.
They further discussed issues related to the candidature of Dr. Arkebe oqubay for the post of Director General of UNIDO. Dr. Arkebe is also endorsed by African Union as Africa’s sole candidate for the post of Director General of UNIDO. Finally the Ambassador thanked the Indian Government support in several multilateral and regional political and economic issues.
Delegation heads to Saudi Arabia to Discuss the Issue of Ethiopian migrants
A delegation comprising officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia and other relevant government agencies has left for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia today (June 18) to discuss the situation of Ethiopian migrants in the country.
The delegation will confer with relevant Saudi Arabian officials regarding the protection of the rights of Ethiopian citizens in the country and further facilitate the repatriation process.
The discussion between the Ethiopian and Saudi Arabian officials will review the achievements and challenges of repatriating illegal migrants who are willing to return home based on their consent.
The close cooperation between the two nations, in this regard, has enabled tens of thousands of Ethiopians to return home safely and in a dignified way, despite the challenges posed by the COVID 19 pandemic.
The visit by the Ethiopian delegation and the outcome of the discussion between the two nations will further strengthen the cooperation between the two countries to efficiently address the problems faced by migrants and expedite the dignified repatriation process.
Ambassador Reta Alemu Nega hold talks with H.E. Ambassador Oren Rozenblat
Ambassador Reta Alemu Nega held discussions with H.E. Ambassador Oren Rozenblat, Senior Diplomatic Advisor to the Israeli Knesset (Parliament) on the current situation in Ethiopia.
Ambassador Reta briefed him about the ongoing political, economic and social reforms in Ethiopia and gave an update on the current domestic situations mainly, the upcoming 6th National Elections, and the rehabilitation and reconstruction work underway.
He underscored the provision of humanitarian assistance to the people in the Tigray Region of Ethiopia. In addition, Ambassador Reta explained Ethiopia’s commitment to the ongoing AU-led negotiation process on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam. Regarding the border dispute with Sudan, Ambassador Reta talked about the readiness of the Ethiopian side to bring amicable political solution.
Ambassador Oren on his part briefed Ambassador Reta about the Israeli interest to further strengthen its engagement with Africa and the African Union.
They agreed to work together on mutual areas of cooperation to strengthen the parliamentary relations between the two friendly countries.
