Endless gratitude to Russia, China for supporting Ethiopia’s sovereignty

Last Sunday ten thousands of Ethiopians showered Russia, China and other global powers with gratitude for supporting their country’s sovereignty. In contrast, they voiced their concerns about the Biden administration and some foreign powers for sticking nose in Ethiopia’s internal affairs.

Following the law enforcement operation that carried out against the terrorist TPLF and the announcement to conduct second round filling of Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) in the upcoming rainy season, some countries

have been putting undue and unwarranted pressure on Ethiopia. However, countries like Russia, China, Turkey and some others have expressed support to Ethiopia’s law enforcement operation apart from backing African solutions for African problems related to GERD row . The Sunday’s massive rally, which was solely organized by Addis Ababa Youth, had vehemently condemned the Biden Administration and its associates` intervention in local matters.

Knowing the genuine meaning of sovereignty and “African solutions for African problems” China and Russia- with a permanent seat at the UN Security Council, have followed nonintervention policy. Appreciating such firm stand of these two countries, demonstrators were seen holding up pictures of Russia, China and Turkey presidents during the rally.

At the event, protestors had expressed anger on the Biden administration‘s economic and security restrictions on Ethiopia. They were also waving banners supporting the construction of GERD and the upcoming second round filling of the dam.

On the occasion , Addis Ababa City Administration Deputy Mayor, Adanech Abiebe and Ethiopian Patriots Association, Lij Daniel Jote Mesfin, delivered message to the youth to cooperate, stand for sovereignty of the nation and fight poverty.

The mass rally is truly a manifestation of strong Ethiopianism that has never been crushed by foreign intervention or, for the sake of aid. Despite all the attempts to take the true identity and pride of Ethiopia, there was no time Ethiopians bow down for foreign intervention or compromise on their interest. Last Sunday, many thousands across the country protested against international pressure which is mounted on Ethiopia without knowing the root causes of local affairs.
