Faithful urged to safeguard national interests

ADDIS ABABA- Eid al Fitr was celebrated colorfully yesterday in Addis and a number of celebrants held banners that say “It is my Dam” during the celebration . Religious and Municipal leaders also urged all faithful to unite hands of cooperation particularly against external threats.

At the event ,Ethiopian Islamic Affairs Supreme Council President Haji Mufti Oumer Idris said that it is the time to heighten forces of unity.

The celebration has aim of beyond coming together to Salahat. All have to be giver of love and assistance to those who need it, as to him.

“Ethiopia is being encircled with threats particularly due to the GERD construction; we all should be united to defend external pressure.”

 “The Prophet (PBUH) has taught us all faithful to be equitable, and Ethiopia is also constructing the Dam with equitable principle,” he noted.

Addis Ababa Islamic Affairs Council President Haji Sultan Aman Eba has also voiced that the notion in Islam are being exploited erroneously by anti-Ethiopians. To him, the flamboyant celebration has exposed that they will never succeeded their intentions.

“I would like to call every faithful to back projects of national development while keeping peace and security in mutual effort,” he said.

The City Deputy Mayor Adanech Abebe, during the ceremony also has extended her message of good wish. She has also congratulated all faitful and Ethiopians for breaking the world record of Street Iftar which was hosted on 27th day of Ramadan on the streets of Addis.

We have history of unison and it is the time reinforces our shared values to preserve national interests too, she noted.
