Eighty years back with available arsenals at hand, forging unity and fighting tooth and nail with fascists armed to the teeth our forbearers did manage to wholly dislodge invaders after occupation for half a decade.
It was defying banned poisons gas raining from the sky forefathers and foremothers set an example of indomitability to us drawing lessons from their fathers and mothers who registered a resounding victory at Adwa.
Taking lessons from forbearers we have to lock horns with poverty, Ethiopia’s overarching and formidable enemy today. To this effect we have to design Mega projects and see to their execution. The GERD is one example of such flagship projects. But to do so we have to close ranks and turn a deaf ear to divisive narrations being dished out by the country’s historic enemies and opportunists with in. The former as part of their strategy of weakening Ethiopia sponsor and train the latter. They are active in proxy war against Ethiopia.
Overcoming these challenges we have to emerge with flying colors in our developmental thrust. We have to finance Mega projects. We have to slam any attempt to wreak havoc in this ancient country marked for its aura of invincibility. It is to showcase this fact patriots poured out to the victory monument at Arat Kilo carrying swords and spears. They were chanting emboldening songs that this generation too must be ready to sacrifices itself on all fronts towards the sustenance and affluence of Ethiopia.
Encircling the victory monument and agog, youngsters were watching the heartwarming performances of patriots and hearing the heart-warming bravery of forbearers. The occasion actually created the feeling of “What must I do to my country?” on the youth, the successor generation.
The vibe conjured up a feeling of pressing Renaissance among Ethiopians.
The bottom line is ‘Divided we fall united we stand.’ Let us keep our unity as the apple of our eyes.
