ADDIS ABABA – Self-centered Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) junta hijacked the goals of the armed struggle against the Derg regime from the very beginning being undemocratic and ethnofascist, said Aregawi Berhe (Ph.D),Former TPLF Senior member.
Speaking to the Ethiopian Press Agency (EPA) on the occasion of the 46th anniversary of the foundation of TPLF, Aregawi stated that over the past 30 years, the main aim of the TPLF junta had been achieving its own interests in the name of the people for the sake of staying in power. “Even the junta’s goal was to rule Ethiopia for about 50 years.”
According to him, the TPLF junta did every evil action on the earth to amass wealth and to stay in power . “That is why I left the party.”
He indicated that the demise of TPLF junta is a great benefit not only for Ethiopia and the people of Tigray but also for the Horn of Africa, as the party was a source of conflict at home and in neighboring countries.
“The dissolution of the party will offer us an opportunity to solve our problems peacefully and through dialogue.”
Like the rest of the Ethiopian people, the people of Tigray did not benefit when the TPLF was in power, Aregawie said.
He stated that the people of Tigray are now facing problems as a result of the TPLF junta. “The government and the people of Ethiopia are working to help the people of Tigray and to rebuild the state.
About 75 international humanitarian organizations are now operating in Tigray. “Standing by the people means beefing up the humanitarian assistance, not hindering them.” He urged all Ethiopians to support the people of Tigray in all aspects.
