
ADDIS ABABA – The implementation of the five-year project meant to increase international competitiveness through the export of quality products highlighted at a conference yesterday.
Ministry of Trade and Industry held discussion with the private sector representatives on ways of and means of ensuring quality products. The country has already put to effect a five year National Quality Infrastructure Development Project (2017/18-2021) that the World Bank financed.
At the conference, Trade and Industry State Minister Eshete Asfaw said as Ethiopia is expanding the manufacturing sector, pertinent institutions will boost capacity to ensure the quality of products.
The project will also help address gaps devising scientific methods to tackle quality related problems, said Abate Aragaw Private Sector Engagement Specialist at the Ministry.
Manufacturers should also export products inspected and certified by the national quality assurance institutions, he said. The project is run through a 50 million USD financial assistance of WB, it was learnt.
